Who's Cut Down Long Bed?
I'm looking in to cutting down a long bed to short bed. Found a video of the Truck guys that cut down a 66. I like the way they did it. I would assume the amount to be removed would be the same on our trucks. Need to figure out how to cut down the floor. New steel floor from Brothers is $950.
Who has cut down a bed? Any pointers? Jump to 11 mins to see the bed cut down. http://www.powerblocktv.com/episode/...0#.VaLzs0WvM1I |

Re: Who's Cut Down Long Bed?
I did check out my build thread, for pointers I would just but the sides unless you do your own bodywork as the extra work you pay for auto body would be better off in new sides.

Re: Who's Cut Down Long Bed?
If I were to cut a long bed down again, I would make the cut for the front 12" at the leading edge of the bed, where it starts to wrap around to the front bed panel.

Re: Who's Cut Down Long Bed?
Don't do it! That's the right answer.

Re: Who's Cut Down Long Bed?
Just curious, what is the attraction to cutting up a long bed, instead of just getting a short bed? Is it just a looks thing? And were there more long beds made than short beds, so they are just harder to find?

Re: Who's Cut Down Long Bed?
I have cut one , my advise is go slow , I cut , and welded perfectly , when I went to grind the weld it heated up and puled in a good 1/4 inch . 66s are a different cut , and have body lines in the bed that are parallel , 67-72 are not
