Pic Request: 10-16.5 vs 9.50-16.5 tires

Looking for photos for comparison:
10-16.5 tires (on 16.5x8.25 rims most likely)
vs
9.50-16.5 tires (on 16.5x6.75 rims most likely)

Thanks, trying to decide. The 9.50 tires is a tad taller (but also a tad skinnier), and the tallness is kinda important to me on a k. Really trying to decide if I will go with a retro mud tire or a radial. BFG A/T come in 16.5 now, but they are TALL. Not sure I wanna go that tall.
Anyhoo, thanks gents, look forward to seeing whatcha got.

12 x 33 BFG ATs on 16.5 x 8.25 - at the time I bought these tires BFG was no longer making the AT in a 10" width for 16.5

Here's the 9.50s on a k20. I bought the same exact tires for mine after seeing these.

Re: Pic Request: 10-16.5 vs 9.50-16.5 tires

To be more specific we are looking at the bias ply tires and in reality the 10-16.6 and a 9.50-16.5 spec at about the same diameter with the 10s on 8.25" wheels. Where the 12-16.5 should give him almost another two inches on 9.75" wheels.

Re: Pic Request: 10-16.5 vs 9.50-16.5 tires

Back in the bias py days the aspect ratio was not standardized, only width. Tire height could vary between designs, but they were generally a similar diameter. 12.00s were 32" back then and it wasn't till BFG radials that they became 33/12.50s. The difference between 9.50s and 10.00s is bigger than it sounds. The 10.00 was an obviously larger tire, even if the section width was only 1/2" different. 16.5s came out when the trend came about for wider track "Wide Oval" tires, while the 16s remined a tradition tall narrow truck tire.

Here is a picture of a 10.00 x 16.5 mounted on an 8.25" wheel:

Not what you are looking for but what the heck, here's a "take off" 72 K20 spare 16.5 wheel - 8.75" bias ply tire. Still holding air.

Re: Pic Request: 10-16.5 vs 9.50-16.5 tires

Thanks all, really appreciate the help. Trevor, that is the direction I was planning to go, and now it's clinched! Are those 8.25s or 6.75s?

Re: Pic Request: 10-16.5 vs 9.50-16.5 tires

His in the pictures was 6.75" and I plan to mount mine on the 8.25" I have. Havent mounted them due to fear of dry rot after mounting. I would have got the 12-16.5 tires in the same tread but they were hard to find. I would have put those on my 10". Trevor

Re: Pic Request: 10-16.5 vs 9.50-16.5 tires

Those are 33/12.50-16.5s mounted on 9.75s. They are Kelly AWRs, but Kelly stopped offering 16.5s. The tread section is wider on those than the BFGs. BFG always used a narrow tread section, which is good for less rolling resistance. These were my flotation set for the beach, so wider tread for flotation
