Where can I buy 16x7 6 bolt wheels and white wall question
Good day folks,
Been banging my head against the wall trying to find some wheels for my 59 apache. I'd like a bit of a bigger wheel surface to show more wheel colour as I will only be going with black wall tires and not white walls for cost savings. I have been looking for some smoothies, 16x7, 6 bolt and probably 3.75 backspacing to fit for original steering. The only ones I can find are the universal type that has about 10 or 12 lug holes going around the hub which I would prefer to avoid. Does anyone know what site I could find these? Also, living in Canada, the exchange and shipping will run me well over $1000 for white walls. I have read about some shops in the states that do a good job turning black walls with raised white letters into white wall tires, using a method similar to that used in a video I have seen from this site or another. Does anyone know of any of these shops that they can recommend in case I decide to go that way? Thanks for your time.

I believe Cragar makes some. I went to their website and didn't see em. Also Detroit steel may have some with out all the holes. their web site is down right now but here it is.
http://detroitsteelwheel.com/ The one on the left i think are Detroits the one on the right are Cragar's. the right one is a member's truck. He is Coach529 maybe he'll chim in and offer more info.

You may want to give Wheel Vintiques a look. They have a good selection. Mine are 16 X 7 smoothies, 6 bolt, no holes 4 inch back spacing.

Wheels Vintique for for the wheels and Coker tires. There are some more vintage tire outfits that usually advertise in Hemmings or the antique car magazines but the names slip my brain right now.

Vintique's wheels are cheaper thru Summit than they are thru their own website and Summit has many many more styles and size choices.
and here is a real good website for tire info an all the major brands that still make tires for historic vehicles.. http://www.widewhitetires.com/ |

These guys do alloy wheels but can likely point you in the right direction to someone who does steel wheels. http://www.alloywheelrepair.ca/ |

Yup, mine are Cragar's. Unfortunately they only make them in 15". I really dig the look of the newer 18+ steel wheels like the Detroits..... |
