ECM mounting location
Gathering parts and stuff for a 6.0/4l80E swap into my square. Where is everyone mounting their ECM's? I'd like to mount it under the dash but I have Vintage Air. Looking for alternate places so I know how long to make the wires when I order my harness.

I "crammed" mine behind the dash..i would not do it that way again..under or behind the seat is the only way I would do another one. That's just me.

When I build C-10s with factory ECUs I mount them behind the headlight on the core support similar to how they are in a Silverado.
In my Blazer, I mounted my holley on the center hump, under the custom center console.

I mounted mine to the rad support that way I didn't have to extend the wire harness. I figured when I pop the hood it will be tight to the support so unless you lean over the front it wont be very noticeable. Of course this did require me to move the battery location.

I prefer under the hood mounting as they were designed to be under the hood. ECM's do quite well outside. In the over the road trucks they have been block mounted for a long time with no issues. Just my thoughts. Here is mine mounted.

Tejas Steel Works indeed. I have their radiator shroud that let me run dual 98 F body fans as well.

Because I am the project manager, fabricator, production designer, planner & benefactor - my time is split, so I went for simplicity and adjustable for short and long ecm harness. My cab was just painted so the brake pedal was already removed.
(2) 1/2 inch wide zip tie straps joined-heat-shrink wrapped and routed through the hole that GM already provided, run ties around the top mount through factory holes. Wire loom placed along side rail of brake pedal case (1) miniature flat roller bearing positioned between ECM on brake pedal swivel.(garden hose gasket was first prototype seen on photo before upgrade to mini roller bearing) Piece of cheesy chrome plastic heater control knob optional to add flare and design.

I made a box for the air cleaner and put the computer, relays and fuses for everything in it.
