Lost a friend and neighbor

My friend and neighbor down the road passed away suddenly last Sunday night of a massive heart attack at 55 years old....he lived alone and was from South Alabama.....no family here so I am trying to help his family dispose of his stuff.......Anyway..right now this isn't a for sale ad but it likely will be soon.

He has a GMC Sierra 1500 2wd short bed PU that belonged to his Dad who died at 54 years old.

This truck has been sitting for several years and he told me that the motor(4.3 V6) had overheated and was bad...but besides being dirty from sitting so long under trees....it looks to be very solid.....not sure of the year....mid 80's maybe?
It has a camper shell and the bed is really clean and rust free inside...there is a dent in the driver's side front bumper and a few dents inside the tailgate....otherwise it's straight and very minimal rust.....

I tried to get a few pictures and I can get more if someone is interested in it.....it's way too good to go to the crusher....I will have more details soon....just trying to see if there might be some interest in it......?

The truck is located near Maryville Tennessee.....not sure right now if a title exists...they are going thru all of his paperwork right now in an attempt to sort it all out.....

It has a factory 4 or 5 speed manual transmission that his Dad special ordered with a really high rear highway gear......

Sorry for your loss, I'm in Maryville if you need a hand with anything. That truck would go pretty quick on CL if the family just wants to free up cash.

Re: Lost a friend and neighbor

I should know something in about a week or so....I may trailer it to my shop and pressure wash it just to get a better idea about it.....this truck might make a nice driver....?
You can see in pic 3 there's a 95 ¾ ton Suburban......really solid too...don't know the story on it except the back is full of deer antlers....?

Re: Lost a friend and neighbor

The bed is dry and solid......it's probably had that mat since it was new......just grime around the wheel wells.......zero rust around the outer wheel wells.....that topper kept it all dry...very minor dents in the inner wheel houses...
