72 sport mirror question

I was wondering if the sport mirrors that fit on 72 c10’s and other years required a backing plate on the inside of door. I”ve been looking in the parts section and seen some with or without. Thanks

Re: 72 sport mirror question

Yes they do require a plate inside the door. They actually have the mounting nuts attached to them. Strengthen the door skin area, so there is no cracking as time passes. Check out LMC.

Re: 72 sport mirror question

I actually just scored a new in the box pair of factory sport mirrors with gaskets ,screws but no backing plate that is why I was wondering. I will have these in my possession shortly than I’ll be on the hunt for a pair of backing plates. Thanks for everyone’s input.
