Question Tightening Slop in Steering Gearbox

How do you go about taking the slop out of a gearbox on a 72 chevy 2wd?? I know about the retaining nut and the allen-head stop, but how do I go about it?

The box may be worn out, and adjusting it won't help. But to try it, hold the allen head bolt firmly and loosen the locking nut. Then rotate the allen wrench clockwise just a little and tighten the locking nut. Time for a test drive but be careful - if you overdid it, it'll bind up - steer hard or drag, and won't want to return to center. Just tighten or loosen as necessary. If you can't get the slop out of the steering without it binding up, the box it shot. Good luck!
