58 cab with 55-57 hood

I have a full 55-57 front clip mounted onto a 58 cab.
I wanted to see what others have done to adapt the hinges for this application.

1) Do you buy 56 hinges and modify the cab?
2) Do you buy 58 things and modify the thing where it connects to the hood (Narrow / shave etc...)
OR...?
TY

Awe Man you done it now, started a ruckus between the one headlight guys and the 4 eyes guys. I'm staying out of this one except to say I considered the same thing once a few years back. I didn't come up with the cash to buy that truck so it was never an issue.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

to mount the 55-57 hood you just use 55-57 hinges and relocate the mounting holes in the firewall
if you want to use the 58 hood on the 55-57 clip, look at kabwe's build, it's usually near the top of the projects page

Get the 55-57 hinges problem solved . I believe the mounting points on the cab are the same .

Re: 58 cab with 55-57 hood

gotwake, no pics......didn't happen.
are you going to lop off the extra frame length out front?
the cabs are all the same so it should fit like a glove, a really old work glove....

Re: 58 cab with 55-57 hood

wow, you put that together in a day. sweet. it takes me that long to tie my shoes.
nice looking project. did you tub the box for fatties? also wondering what track width you went with out front. looks like lots of room for those tires to make a turn without that annoying rubber treads on metal sound.
more pics? how much of that body is new stuff? seems to fit pretty well (from the pic angle anyway).

Re: 58 cab with 55-57 hood

I need to start a build page with this one. I bought the white truck for $4500 and the only things I kept (after going through it) were the vin and the core support.

buying that frame you saved a lot of time off your truck project

I tried, but there's no one in my area that could do the 4 link or IFS here in Los Agneles. Weird.
