Tranfercase troubles- NP208

I posted on the parts board that i wanted to buy a new t-case for my TH400 which had a 208 (input 32 spline 1 3/8" shaft)

the 208 went south for the winter

I have another 208 but it is for 700R4(input 27 spline 1 1/8"shaft)

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if the input shafts could be changed and if so how hard is it to do ( I really don't want to try this right now because I don't have the time to allow for errors or delivery if seal kits) and if I should need to take it to someone how much would it cost to have them do it and what is the average shop turn around

I need to do this as cheap as and as fast as possible being that it is Christmas and I am laid off and this is now my only ride

If anyone local would like to rebuild it fo me maybe we could work something out I do have some good parts laying around

Thanks in advance guys/girls ,Keith

You can change the input to the turbo 400 spline. You can also look for a 208 that was behind a 4spd they have the same spline as the 400. Its not hard to change them out pretty much you just have to split the cases apart.

the last tranfer i got to go behind my turbo 400 came from behind a sm 465 that was in a 1984 3/4 chevy. The 208 didn't come out until 1981.

forgot to state that last transfer was a 208. I don't know if all the 4 spd from 81 up that were mated to a 208 had the 400 splines but all of them I have had or came across had the 400 spline.

I know thats what I was up against. I needed a 208 to go behind my 400 so that was what I was looking for, if I found one they were pricey, then a friend showed me that the ones from the 4 spd were the same just change the adaptor. Then I found lots of 4 spd transfers and a cheaper price.
