Re: spark plug wires
Just like on a corvette.
Down behind the heads, along the pan rail and up to the plugs. Use adel clamps or cable ties to secure them. |

Re: spark plug wires
These work great.
Link:https://www.summitracing.com/parts/spe-18483 Another option. Link: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tay-42504 I use something like these for spark plug wires. Link:https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...make/chevrolet Another idea is to use an individual boot the the one that are the closest to the header. Link: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/pnx-8563ht-1 Just for ideas Hope this helps.

Re: spark plug wires
There are OTVC and UNTVC (over or under valve cover) SBC wire sets, All require some form of wire holders typically attached to the valve cover bolts for OTVC and tap block or head holes for under. Wire routing is a personal choice. I have over on one car and under on another, both with headers. The typical part sources like Summit, etc. have many wire holders to chose from so browse away

Re: spark plug wires
Here's what I did, cheap but still clean looking. I used a universal wire set so I could trim to length, and some Mr Gasket brackets and clips.

Re: spark plug wires
Having done this a bunch of times, the best method by far with headers or rams horns is from underneath. If you have log type manifolds then over the valve covers works better. The Corvette wires are the way to go. ‘73 if points style distributor and ‘75 if HEI.

The Adel clamps are often seen in aircraft use. A metal band held in place with a screw of some sort and a rubber cushion between the band and what you are holding.

Of course, on an L6, the headers are on the opposite side...

Re: spark plug wires
I went above and separated them like a factory small block would have been done in 1968 in like a Chevelle or Camaro. I used the factory 4 wire stand on the upper end on a intake bolt. The driver side has a larger bracket with a hole in it for the power brake hose as well as a throttle return spring hook. The the the 2 wire clips on the lower valve cover bolts.

Re: spark plug wires
Here's my 350 in a '71 GMC Jimmy:
I used that ''ladder'' plug wire separator. Also hi-heat socks on the plug boots. Old pic showing the ''Mummy wrap'' on the headers. I thought I'd get away with it due to AZ's low humidity. No such luck. In 7 years, my Heddman Hedders had rusted thru. Using a wrap voided the lifetime warranty. Even though I was careful to get the exact same part number on the headers -- for ease of replacement -- I got boned because Heddman had ''improved'' the design with a Ball-mount collector, not the familar 3-bolt direct collector/exhaust pipe. Real PIA to sawzall thru old pipes, and then run 7 miles down the main drag to get to a Midas where they could weld on a connection. All the while sounding like a B-25 taxiing.

Re: spark plug wires
If you've got newer heads with the small threaded holes on the sides, you can use spark plug wire retainers from 96-99 trucks. I had to trim mine a little to clear the headers. One of the retainers doubles as the dipstick mount, but that can be trimmed off if not needed. I also used a set of retainers from an 80s van that attach to the rear of each head.

Re: spark plug wires
My Jimmy has the Carter AFB 9635S which is essentially the same as a 1405 [600 CFM] and Heddman 69210 Hedders.
Stepside has a 1404 [500 CFM] as Carters were unavailable in 2003, and Clifford long tube headers. Was your truck originallly Orange?

Re: spark plug wires
It was originally orange. It was resprayed about 25 years ago. The paint under the original tar insulation on the cab floor is orange.

Re: spark plug wires
I've noticed Zinc Chromate primer under the top paint on the grille.

Re: spark plug wires
I was planning to use Taylor wires but my cousin talked me into MSD Corvette wires. I ran them down under and back up to the plugs but for some reason one wire #5? would not reach. I ended using a replacement wire from another set on that plug, same size wire just not MSD. We checked my cousins truck and he had made some type of weird adapter to make his reach. The adapter consisted of a nail and some rubber hose, it looked really cheesy and he offered to make one for me but I said no thanks, lol.
