Flexplate size?

I/m going to install a 700r4 transmission in my 1970 C10 with the factory sbc 350 and a 3 speed standard on the column. I have the trany, and converter. But what size (tooth) flexplate do I need to buy? 153 tooth or 168 tooth?

Re: Flexplate size?

Either should work, depending on the starter used.

Re: Flexplate size?

Remember to get one for a two piece rear main . But the size is really up to you and the starter

Re: Flexplate size?

I just went through the same thing. Replaced the 4spd on my 67 with a 700r4. Not only did I have to buy a spacer for the aftermarket crossmember that I bought, I grabbed a 168 tooth flexplate, thinking more torque leverage. I also had to buy a new starter. Well after all that, with the starter moved out more due to the bigger flexplate, the exhaust was in the way. So I also had to get a set of headers and run a new exhaust system.
