Shackle Flip kit?

is anyone here running a shackle flip kit? how does it effect the ride quality? i'm looking for around 6" of lift, and have been told by more than one person that i should go with a 4" shackle flip, and a 2" leaf spring. any input? this is going to be my first 4x4 (78/79 Chevy K20), and i dont want to screw it up too bad or waste a bunch of money trying to get it lifted. thanks in advance.

well if u realy dont want to waste money u could take your stock bracket and cut a hol in the bottom and hang the shakel throw the bottem

Colorado k5 site has a good article on the subject

Much better than blocks in the back.

I'm very happy with the shackle flip I bought from Offroad design. You can see the install pics at my web in my signature. Ride quality was great before I added some additional leafs to each pack. Now mine rides like a 1 ton - pretty stiff.

Jeremy,

you thought i was crazy when i said cut the stock hanger and flip shackles... see i wasnt the only one!

The OffRoad Design hangars are very nice looking, if you're on a budget just cut the front spring hangers off a junk truck and replace your rear hangers with them.

If you do the flip make sure you get the center pin relocator so that your axle is centered in the wheel well. Unless you have a flat bed like Yukon then no body can tell.

mine has a flatbed on it now, but it wont always. i think im going to go with an aftermarket flip bracket, rather than using stock stuff.

I think you still have to have the relocator for the after market bracket unless they off set the bracket.
