In your first post you say it fits the SM465 bellhousing don't you mean SM420.

You are right on the SM 420, it would have the smaller hole. I was thinking about the NV4500 install in my '72 C30 which had the SM465 transmission & 5 1/8" hole for the bearing retainer. Thanks for spotting that. I will go back and change it.
