Hello, a few months ago I bought my first truck a 69' C10 longbed, 2wd, 350, and posted it on here with a lot of ambition and excitement as this is my first build. Well I just wanted to show off where I'm at with it. Nothing you guys haven't seen before I' sure, but I'm proud

Here's what it looked like before.

And this is it now. Had to replace the front springs as someone had taken a torch to them so it'd look lowered. Haven't had to do much with the engine other than a new alternator. Didn't do the body work myself, I tried but just didn't have the knack for it. Still needs a new exhaust (no hurry though), and the interior could use some TLC. The interior of the bed needs a lot of work - lotta surface rust and banged up, going to have it soda blasted or something and then prime it and use a spray on bed liner like hurculiner because I intend to be using this truck for hunting/fishing/camping. Tell me what you think! It's not a show truck, but I'm proud of it, and it runs & drives like a dream. So far I payed $2000 for the truck, and put about another $2200 into it. I don't plan to sell it or anything, but you don't think I went too far into the red do you?

This truck looks great...you've done a nice job getting it the way YOU wanted it....looks like money well spent, and if you are gonna use it, enjoy it....
I think you went about taking on what you could and kept it running and driving...the interior and exhaust will come when you can get them done....

Looks good!!!As far a price/what you have in it,compare a $400-500 a month payment(for a very cheap new or well used truck) to what you have in it.I like the blue and the paint looks really good for what you've got in it.The interior looks liveable from the pics.If it needs exhuast then join the crowd.Most need something.

Thank you all for the praise! Hadn't thought about the $400 a month payment for a new car thing, that DOES put it in pretty good perspective. As to where I got the body work done...I almost don't want to say, you'll probably groan. Ahh what the heck, it was a maaco, but hear me out! I shopped around a bunch, and after talking to a bunch of local body shop guys they all pointed me to this specific maaco as being a really decent place without paying out the rear. I pulled into the parking lot and was presented with a plethora of some surprisingly nice classic cars they where working on, so I got to see their work beforehand. Absolutely not the norm for a maaco, but I'm glad I took the risk on this was as it payed off. They also gave me a helluva military discount :-P

That's the best Maaco paint I've ever seen. Way above their minimum "standard." You mind telling how much body+paint cost?

That is a fine looking truck that will give you years of fun and memories. I agree with PanelDeland - having a great truck and not having to make a $400+ monthly payment is worth its weight in gold.

But, ATTENTION SPOOKYU!!! By the looks of things you're living in a apartment type complex. Next 2 things to install, Please for the love of GOD!! A KILL SWITCH and a BATTERY DISCONNECT.
This truck looks too nice and I'm sure you're enjoying being the owner of it, but there are eyes on this prize.

Do yourself a HUGE favor, get it secured. I'm just saying.

One more thing: Nice Dodge Dart back in the corner in the one picture. Looks like a '74? Looks like it's in nice shape too.

Great job! I like the color. Looks same as my '69 step side - Carolina Blue, which is appropriate since it was originally a North Carolina farm truck. Kudos on painting the top. Never been a big fan of white.

I would have liked to kept the white top too, but they wanted to charge me a LOT more for two different colors so I opted out of it

I'm not disappointed, but I DO feel like it could have been that much better with it yes. Yeah I've been thinking about that actually, the kill swith. How much are they and how hard are they to install? Oh and yeah I think that is a dart, it's a nice looking car, not sure who owns it though, looks like it's got a lot of original parts too.

The battery disconnect is VERY easy to install even I did mine. Go down to the local parts place and get one. Just make sure your battery is a top-post type. They do have ones for side posts, but it's easier if it's a top-post. I like this better than a kill switch, cause it won't start no matter what.

As far as the kill swtich, I have a friend who's a Auto-electric mechanic do mine, so might be a good idea to find someone. I know it's not hard to do, just gotta know what you're doing, cause it could get messy.

I'm sure someone on here will let you know how to install one.

I just figure it this way; since it's out in the open, just try to make it as hard as humanly possible for someone to steal it. You worked hard and saved to rebuild this truck, so you need to make sure some Peckerhead doesn't ruin it for you. Everyone on here has read those threads about how "my truck got stolen!!" and you have a NICE truck and you're on your way to having a REAL nice truck. Just trying to help.

I put an ignition kill in a few weeks ago. Thought hard about all the different places to put it, and decided it would be best if it was wired in series between the firewall and HEI. This way there's no way to hotwire it from inside the cab, and the hood is chained with a padlock. Also, I like the idea of ignition kill over battery, so any scumlicker who tries to start it can sit there and crank until the battery dies without knowing there's a problem. To energize, you have to slip a rod on the keyring into...
