Packard 56 terminals

I figured I’d ask here since I know some of you guys build new harnesses. I’d like to buy a variety of packard 56 terminals for random repairs, small re-wire jobs etc. Where is a good place to buy them? Id need the terminals for HEI connections, fuse block ends, temp sender ends and other common terminal ends in the packard 56 family. I like the clean look of a wire without a crimped/soldered pigtail.

I usually go to NAPA and find them and usually they aren’t in the size/shape that I am looking for at the time. Just looking to stock up so I have them on hand.

Any help is appreciated

Bought mine from Ebay. Check for kits there.

I get the majority of my electrical supplies from Waytek Wire.

Re: Packard 56 terminals

Terminalsupply.com has a good selection including the plastic plug housings. American Autowire has the 6 and 9 terminal firewall plugs along with some other difficult to find pieces.

Re: Packard 56 terminals

Thank you for the replies, I checked all of the site out and looks like electrical depot had the best deals and was easiest to navigate. Thank you again!

Re: Packard 56 terminals

Ok… question.

I need to replace the temp sender wire, are these the same terminals or does the temp sender require a specific terminal?

Re: Packard 56 terminals

packard 56 terminals come in a male and a female crimp on terminal
as far as i know that is the only packard 56 terminal, all others have different number designations
the back side has a spring clip to lock it in the plug
they're still available at any auto parts store

old gm temp sensor uses the same packard 56 in an open sided block
it's available everywhere even amazon amazon.com/PICO-5665PT-Coolant-Temperature-Sending

In my experience they are available nowhere at all except ordering online. Not available in any brick and mortar store, and certainly not at any car parts store. I find many many things no longer available local and have to buy online or do without. Interesting how things are different in different parts of the country.

AGREED!

I do find them at Napa or a little mom and pop auto parts store here in town, but it’s pretty hit or miss that I find what i need. The other half of that is explaining to the parts guy what it is that your looking for.

Aside from that, online it is

a couple people suggest where to get a variety of packard 56 terminals
my point was there is no variety of packard 56 terminals, there are only 2

Actually, they are available in a variety of sizes (on the crimp end) to fit different wire gauges. Pictured below are a few examples (from left to right): #2965867 female for 16-14 gauge, #2989877 female for 12 gauge, #2965467 female for double 16-14 gauge, #2971962 male for 16-14 gauge, and #2971859 male for 12 gauge. There are also (not pictured) 56 series terminals to fit smaller 18 gauge wire, larger 10 gauge wire, and I believe there is a male terminal that fits double 16-14 ga wires. All the ones shown here are tin plated brass, but some are available in un-plated (bare brass) versions too.
