Hydroboost question

Converting to a hydroboost system. Mounted on the firewall it angles down pretty dramatically. Is this normal for these or am I missing something. Everything in cab lines up with pedal

Re: Hydroboost question

Mine doesn't look like that at all. It points straight out and lines up with the pedal. That might play a bit of havoc with the master cylinder depending on which one you use.

Re: Hydroboost question

Judging from the mounting plate it's supposed to angle down a bit. What did that unit come off of? Maybe take it off and rework that plate to make it flat...?

I'm running the Astro van setup and it doesn't angle down. Not sure what setup you are running.

Not sure. Someone gave it to me. I guess I have to get a flat plate bit the nut is hard to get off. Don't have the socket

Yes it is billet ,bought the whole system from Hydroboost, but it does look like you can build one, if you have Bridgeport

Re: Hydroboost question

It looks like it's upside down. I think the install should be with the accumulator on the engine side; and master pointing slightly up.

Dang...never noticed that and I have my accumulator on the outside like his set-up to clear the valve cover!

Not to hijack the thread, but what system are you using to go coil on plug TunedPort? I have several TPI systems and I love them. Might convert one of them to this.

It will work either way. Certain mounting plates will dictate the orientation. Personally, I do not like the lines coming out the top so mine is mounted with the fittings on the bottom. I bought mine from Hydatech Braking with the mounting plate attached designed for bottom lines.

Absolutely, with the caveat that if you are doing a GM swap and want to do minimal modifications it will need to be installed factory like...

Hydra tech seems like a good company, how to like their products?

You could use an EFI Connection front cover and then you'd have to figure out engine management either with a 411PCM conversion or aftermarket ECU. On my SBC, I use a Holley Dual Sync distributor and a dominator ECU to control my throttle body and LS coils. Any of Holley's ECU's (Dominator, HP, Terminator X or X Max) are capable of running the TPI and a dual sync or the EFI Connection cover, would just need the right wire harness.

Re: Hydroboost question

A tip for you real quick, as long as I'm at my desk and access to some images.

Just break off that wacky nut on the back of the mounting plate, replace it with a spanner nut. You can use a bearing lock washer too. Torque it down using a gland nut wrench(they're cheap) and some loctite.

You just take a file and make a new slot in the mounting plate to flip the booster. Took about 10 minutes.

The benefit of having it mounted with lines coming out the top is you can usually use some of the factory lines depending on your application. Had I not flipped the unit, I could have used 2 factory lines.

Since it came from Hydratech braking with the mounting plate attached in the correct orientation there was no need to file. It installed the way I wanted with the lines down. This went in my 2-wheel drive LS3 blazer, or I would have gone with using something factory stock including lines. Mine are all AN

Other than the long lead time I like the product and their communication. It has only been driven around the shop yard as it went right to the body shop after it was moving under its own power. It seemed to work in the parking lot? I am also running 14" front and 13" rear Wilwood brakes. It "should" stop well!

Turning it around on the plate will not help. The mounting surface of the booster is flat. Plate is angled
