Re: New project

Thanks , old motor looked good on teardown . Pistons and cylinder walls looked good . Rings and bearings getting replaced . Also upgraded to a beehive spring and retainer . These are surposed to last longer and are lighter at the retainer end to lighten up the valvetrain . Should have the old motor back tuesday . We will see .

Re: New project

Well the big headers leak like crazy on the small motor heads , but it is back together and i drove it enough today to clear out the driver side pipe that was pumped full of oil when it broke . Going to Sealy for the friday jackpot and pinevalley for the ironman challege saturday.

Re: New project

Well had a pretty good night . New motor did really well minus the exhaust leaks . Got 4 test passes in and ended up breaking out in the final . but made a bit of money . Had a great time . Pine valley today for the Iron Man classic .

Re: New project

This is how it went down . I actually needed to look these slips over today anyway .
5 t&t passes as follows :
7:03pm -.0239 red 6.88@99.49
7:10pm -.004 red 6.85@99.47
7:19pm.037 6,86@ 99.98
7:33pm -.0395red 6.85@99.43
8:01pm -.0384red 6.84 @99.89 These 2 lights are where i found my "spot on the tree" I adjusrted the truck to this "spot" being .00X -.01X via trans brake button adjustment .

Eliminations :

Round 1 win
I had a slower car that went red first
I was .085 6.86 @ 99.80
Round 2 win
.019 6.90 @100.78 lifted 50' before traps cause she was late
Round 3 win had the bye run from the .019 previous rund , but had to run as car count was even . got lane choice. Chose right lane .
.011 6.86 @100.31 opponent was .173
Round 4
I had the bye due to the .011 round before and got a single
.023 6.853 @100.07 ran left lane
Round 5 final

We negotiated and i took the left lane again

Me: dial 6.85 him: 6.41
.043 .047
6.843 6.44

I took too much strip and should have backed into him as he was slow . Just a mistake at 100 mph .

Re: New project

Heres how it went down . First 2 tt were on a hair trigger with my .5 set up in it . Put .020 in the Apex long throw and let'er eat .

1st round

2rd round I was .036 to his .039 double break out mov.004

3rd round

4th round slower car went red and i lost concentration ( a win is a win)

5th round good light

6th round truck chattered the tires and wasn't going to run the number . He came around me and started backing up ,.... until he heard the 200 shot ! Hence the MPH

round 7 got this guys team mate in round 5 with the good light . Alot of talk about money and lanes . Set up conservative to be green .

Re: New project

Pine valley , not so good . Never got the roll out right . went out 3 rd in both classes . New motor must be breaking in cause it went faster every pass . Ended up running 6.76 @101 . Think there is more in it .

Re: New project

It stayed together . 2 weeks ago i ran it in Baytown . Saturday pulling into the 2nd time trial i picked up a sheetmetal screw . It split the tube on the outside all the way around . It just ripped . I pulled out of line and went to the pits , pushed the jack up under it , unhooked the ford and hauled ass to the house and pulled the slicks off the S-10 . Rolled back asap and was the last one in the lanes 1st round . When i left the truck i threw the carb cap on and left the waterpump/fan in auto to cool down with the hood open . while i was gone my buds too the rear tires off and had it ready for me to mount the S-10 slicks . One of the was looking over the motor and saw the wide open throttle wire off . they did me a favor and hooked it back up for me . I left first round on 200 . It went 1.33 60' and i was out by 330 . Usually i go 6.80 @101-102 . I was 6.40 @ 97 . Big wheelie

Re: New project

Sounds like fun. It seems like I am always thrashing at the track or helping someone in need. I can't wait to get my truck back going.

You're a sucker for punishment running two trucks.

Good luck, hope you bring home a Wally!

Re: New project

Ah , the truck shootout . I am interested in it , but the one and one i went to was on the boarder of out of control. I havent been back to one . Had a guy try to steal my laptop and another take my fire jacket . Had to chase him down and take it back . If it has calmed down some i would be game .

Re: New project

Wow! I've been watching that yellow truck race on Friday nights for a while now. I just happened to start reading around and seen this. I basically grew up at the Baytown race track, back when it was still just Houston Raceway Park. I was there last Saturday at the bracket racing, but can't remember if I seen that truck there or not.
