Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
Looks good! Plus or minuses on the fit or install?
Sure beats the "cracked look" I've still got! Mark

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
The one on my '82 came with it from P.O. but i never taped/glued it down, it fit pretty snug and never had any problems with it except very slight sagging under the trim. It was plastic and blue, i painted it black with interior paint and never had any problems with it, no fading or cracking.
Sorry about the pic, only one i seem to have out of 2 years of owning it and it's from when i was rattle canning it, and the veiw is from the split window in the back.

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
I need to find some dash trim and vents
$70 for the brushed aluminum ones from LMC or $50 for a black/silver one $20 each for vents

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
This sounds crazy but it worked. I took the old vents and lightly sanded the faded chrome off with 600 grit sandpaper. Next I took CREST toothpaste on a folded up papertowel and rub, rub, rub. If it gets really dry, (which it will) you can add a little water just to kind of moisten it up.
The last step was to take a microfiber cloth and wet it and wring it out. Fold it up, then apply more Crest and rub, rub rub some more. Then wipe it off every so often and take a look at it. If it's not shiny eneough, rub it some more. I did everything but the sanding in my recliner watching TV. http://s971.photobucket.com/albums/a...g%26newest%3D1 http://s971.photobucket.com/albums/a...3.jpg&newest=1 http://s971.photobucket.com/albums/a...g%26newest%3D1 |

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
also 9 out of 10 dentists say it will protect your A/C vents from cavities, gingivitis, plaque, sensitivity, and bad breath.
but honestly awesome info for the budget builder! thanks |

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
Thanks guys. I wasn't trying to highjack the thread. One of those vents came out of one of my parts trucks and the other two came from a wrecking yard for about $7.00 for both. I was just fooling around to see what I could do with them and was pleasently surprised with the first one. I plan to put them in my truck even if they are black. They'll never fade again. You guys had some great info about the plastic dach caps. I need one but I was always leery of them having never seen one in person. Now I can but and install one with confidence. Thanks.

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
Man that looks good. I had heard some bad stuff about LMC but Between the dash caps and the dash trim i'm kind of starting to change my mind. Anybody ever tried their seat covers? That's what I need most right now.

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
i got one from LMC, it fit ok. i had to do a little trimming here and there.
one bit of advice, follow the directions on the silicone adhesive. only use it on the edges and around the openings. this will allow for it to move around a little in the heat of the day. i put some on the center part and now that is the only place where it sits low. everywhere else it kinda puffed up a little. had i not put it in the center parts it would look more even. not a bad deal for $100 bucks though. made an INSTANT improvement on my truck's interior. |

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
Good to hear that it fit. The Accuform I bought was too small for the dash of my 83 and caused a lot of problems. It does not fit will around the defrost vents and is cracked around the openings because it is too small. My $100 was not well spent like your $100.

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
I hope your guys lasts longer then ours did. we got one from our local truck parts dealer(new stuff only) and it's by accuform and after about a year the thing cracked right along side the ridge, right over the right side of where the guages are, where it drops off and gets flat along the center and passenger side, right where those 2 areas meet, on dad's 84. It never got worse, or done it anywhere else but it did it there.

Re: LMC Molded Plastic Dash pad covers
I need a dark brown dash cover. Anyone use this guy?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT Feedback would be appreciated. I see that neither LMC nor JC Whitney sell a dark brown pad, and while I'm not totally opposed to getting one and dying it, I would rather have one with the color integrated into the product. Anyhow, anyone have any exprericence with this guy? Has a pretty good feedback rating..... |
