Re: tranfer case model

NVG 149-NP3 Manual Transmission Fluid GM P/N 88861800

NVG 246-NP8 Auto-Trak II, transfer case fluid, GM P/N 88900402

NVG 261-NP2 Manual Transmission Fluid GM P/N 88861800

NVG 263-NP1 Manual Transmission Fluid GM P/N 88861800

If you have a Auto-Trak use the GM Fluid, All other transfer cases use Dexron III.

Since "Money Hungry" GM introduced Dexron IV, Dexron III is being phased out as a product name. It was renamed Manual Transmission Fluid part # 88861800

DO NOT use Dexron VI in place of Dexron III/manual transmission fluid in any manual transmissions or transfer cases that specify Dexron III, as a failure may result.

NP1, NP2, NP3 & NP8 are RPO codes......Look in your gloveblox & know for sure what case you have

You have the Auto-trac transfercase if you have the Auto button. The original Auto-trac fluid used until roughly 2003-2004 was red however the replacement Auto-Trac II fluid is blue and unfortunately seems to be only available at the GM dealer. The new fluid is supposed to protect better than the red fluid.
