Temp problem

I just got a 05 sub with a 5.3. The temp gos way past the 260 mark but it don't seem hot at the motor and it's not boiling over so I replaced the temp sending unit and it still does it can anybody help

The stepper motor in the insterment cluster is most likely bad, Easy to check with a scanner that can access the cluster (IPC), If the data stream is reading normal temp the cluster is bad. Rebuild or replace the cluster.
