Re: 68 c10 shortbed with 2004 5.3/4l60e

Yessir.. I'm starting this thread to help.. (Show off my work) lol I have a 68 Chevy c10, putting an 04 5.3L 4l60e in it... I had a 350/350 turbo.. I have done lots of research before the build... I got motor/trans PCM harness tac gas pedal for 1300$ motor had 62,000 miles on it... I live in Dallas Texas... These motors are very easy to find... I got a custom grind to cam.. Got some springs and lifters ... Professional valve job... Got the harness modified locally.. Can hook u up w number if interested.. Got PCM flashed from ol boy from lt1tech , quick turnaround.. Real good guys..

Pix coming soon I dropped motor and trans in today and it fits perfect. 5.3 manifolds didn't fit, I'm using dirty dingos and the pedestals that came with the truck when I got it.. Had 350/350... So gonna try the tbss manifolds? What year guys?? Driveshaft fit... Awesome!! Mounting fuel system tomorrow.. Got the vetted filter and a external fuel pump... Have a 18gal tank under bed ( came with truck)

Hello there 68chvy;
I have a question for you, you said you got the "Vette filter" do you mean the Corvette fuel filter/pressure regulator for a returnless fuel system?

Ok just checking because GM couldn't make up it's mind how they wanted to plumb the fuel system for a couple years there so I just wanted to make sure you had the right setup.
Mine is an 2003 and it has 3 lines, return, emissions, and supply what a rediculous setup it is LOL.

I'm going to run the factory exhaust manifolds I have CPP tubular perches, LS mounts and 3" forward adapters, I'm also using a automatic radiator and electric fans from a 2006 Silverado.

I'm planning to use the factory lines unless something unforseen happens.

Re: 68 c10 shortbed with 2004 5.3/4l60e

Are you able to use the stock AC bracket with the engine mounting setup that you are using?
I found out that in order to be able to use the factory AC bracket and still clear both crossmembers I had to ditch the CPP 3" forward adapter and design and fabricate a 2" forward adapter instead.
The CPP engine perches are designed so that the angle of the motor mount bolt holes line up with the block bolt holes so fabricating a 2" forward adapter is a piece of cake, no complicated geometry to figure out.
The only unique part of the 2" forward adapter is that all 3 motor mount bolts have to be countersunk using 60 degree allen bolts and welded in to the back of the adapter because of lack of accessability since the adapter has to be bolted to the block first before the motor mounts can be bolted on, also two of the 4 block bolts have to be countersunk because they are underneith the motor mounts, I had a local fabrication shop make them for me and they charged $50 for the pair.
There are all kinds of interesting engineering problems to solve when you start retrofitting new drivetrain combinations into these old trucks.
I have stories let me tell you LOL
