Complete front end rebuild kits
I'm have driven myself crazy researching for the most complete front end rebuild kit for a 1969 C10 P/U. My project truck is in need of about everything in the front....maybe even springs.
I would love to find the rare Moog kit that is made in the USA, but it seems that if a thing of the past with corporate America going to cheap labor....Chinese made. Has anyone used a kit from "a-resto-parts.com"? Is it good quality? |

Re: Complete front end rebuild kits
The ECE kit is all Moog components:
http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx I pieced my parts together from rock auto, using the ECE as a guide. It probably saved me 50%, they always have a few of the parts on closeout for pennies on the dollar.

Re: Complete front end rebuild kits
I put in piles of Moog parts on different trucks and pretty much buy all of them from Rockauto or Amazon.com. And I have yet to see one that wasn't made in USA.
No real kit needed, just piece it together. 2 upper ball joint 2 lower ball joint 2 upper control arm shaft kits 2 lower control arm shaft kits 2 inner tie rod ends 2 outer tie rod ends 1 pitman arm 1 idler arm 2 tie rod adjust sleeves 1 pair lower control arm bump stops 1 pair of upper control arm bump stops 2 pairs of sway bar bushings if your truck has a sway bar Add in a pair of shock absorbers of whatever flavor you prefer and a pair of coil springs and you've covered your bases.

Re: Complete front end rebuild kits
One thing to consider. If you're planning on replacing the control arm bushings and will need to pay someone to press them out and back in, price a new set of tubular arms. They come oreassembled with ball joints and could be a better deal in the long run with a performance upgrade to boot. FYI

Re: Complete front end rebuild kits
There shouldn't be any pressing needed on the control arm bushings.

Re: Complete front end rebuild kits
After a few emails and a phone call I decided to go with the kit from http://stores.a-resto-parts.com.
The kit looks great, and so far all has been going together without any issue. They "hand pick" their suppliers based on the constant changing quality of suppliers. There was small issue with the kit that they quickly took care of and in today's lack of good customer service/support it was great to experience great customer service! |

I picked my moog front end kit up here. http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/ Fast shipping and everything went together real well and seemed to be of good quality.

I’m also trying to find the best kit with the most pieces, I’d like to replenish it all in one shot so I’m going to try aresto kit, it has 17pc compared to mooms which is 10pc. Only one question, did you need a press?

Yes, you will need a ball joint press to remove and install the ball joints in the lower control arms. The upper ball joints are riveted in from the factory. You drill the rivets out and the new ball joint installs with bolts. I borrowed the ball joint press tool from Oreilly Auto Parts to do mine. There are "How To" videos on youtube.

Re: Complete front end rebuild kits
7 year old thread... lol
You can get all the parts to rebuild a front end on these trucks at almost any parts store. Just ask for Moog parts. No need for mail order. I got all the parts I needed (including the balljoint press rental) for under $250 bucks. Gary

Re: Complete front end rebuild kits
I agree with Gary about using Moog parts and getting them at your local parts place, however, my experience has been that summit racing or the like is way cheaper than my AutoZone or O'reilieys auto parts store.
