so hard the fathom how it ran fine the night before, not a sign of trouble, then next day a death rattle.

Re: Mayday, Pimp Down

not fuel pump

valve cover off and nothing looks or operates wrong, yet I didn't see oil come out the push rods. But they all do spin.

hooked up gauge, quickly shoots to 30-40psi on start.

Has to be oil not getting to lifters buy why suddenly with no sign.......

Re: Mayday, Pimp Down

giant blob of small chunks of hard carbon pooled right at the pick up and stuck in it.

new melling pick up with 5/8 tube coming......

funny it is a clean engine, no sludge, how many years did it took to build up enough?

Re: Mayday, Pimp Down

In the 5.0 for the better half's Volvo. Its was super clean in the pan but had a huge "chunk" of sludge in the LH valve cover. Because the exhaust manifold rose up on that side slowly cooking the oil? Maybe something like that happened in a oil passage in your engine? Just a thought.
