Brake adjustment

How do the rear drum brakes adjust? Is it with the parking brake, or driving in reverse and putting on the brakes. About every 2 months I have to take the drums off and readjust them.

Either method will adjust the brakes. Do which ever is most convenient for you. Every now and then I hold the E-brake release and pump the e-brake, then sometimes I brake hard a couple of times as I'm backing out of my driveway.

they should self adjust everytime you make a rear stop, if they dont then you have frozen self adjustor theads, you need to remove the drums and remove the adjusters and break the thread sloose and take them apaprt and clean the threads and use some antisieze on the threads

Plus I find that backing with a light but firm pumping motion gewts it done the best. It'll only turn a litte each tiem you hit the brakes, so multiple pumps can help.

Your adjusters are probably stuck, or else the teeth on the adjuster wheels are rounded off to the point where the lever isn't engaging, slipping off the teeth.
