Radiator question

Im.looking for a radiator for my 70 C10 truck. The one that came out was a 4 core but im not finding much online for a replacement. All I find in 2 and 3 row. Or they have transmission cooler ports. I guess I could just plug the ports. Thoughts? I'm getting closer to firing the engine and this is one of the last things I need.

I don't have any personal experience with this product, but NPD has a 4 row radiator listed on their site.

I would like an aluminum radiator but this is definitely an option. Thanks!

Most AL radiators you find will only be 2 or 3 rows cores. They are more efficient than brass/copper radiators hence the need for less rows. The rows also also a bit large in the AL radiators as compared to the brass/copper type.

Dude those look nice! I don't see any options or information on what row they are but it say drop in. I may pick one of these up. How long does it take to receive after ordering?

Here is a thread I did on mine a few years ago 2015 when I bought the aluminum one for the 71. I have one in the ramp truck, 64 SS Impala and had one in my 56. Not one problem out of any of them. The 71 with LS 6.0 never cuts the fans on unless I'm sitting still for a period of time. No plastic and all tig welded.

My K20 has an all-metal 4-row I bought many years ago.
If / when it needs replacing, I'll take a good long look at 2-row radiators.

......X2 on the Champions.... I have 3 with zero issues, one is about 20 years old now. FYI Ledfoot Racing owns/is Champion Radiators.

Yes it fit fine. The shape where it fits into the support bracket is a little weird, but it works fine. I am using the original shroud that I recently restored with new upper mount ears because they were broken off; I used the super glue and baking soda method you recommended. There is about a 1/4 inch gap along the top of the radiator to shroud and I don't know if that would be different with the stock radiator. The gap has not bothered me. I sold that original 4-row radiator to another board member a few years ago, and at the time I was using the old radiator the shroud had broken ears so I don't know how it would have fit at that time. My new Engineered Cooling Products radiator is now about 4 years old.

Cold Case aluminum radiator. Stamped tanks and it looks just like the original. Good quality and fits like it should in the factory big block mounts due to size

I was wondering about cold case. I see it is a two row but they say they cool better than an old 4 row. Anyone else using one?

Thanks for all the replies. I decided to go with a cold case. All the reviews seemed positive pluse my summit store has it in stock 100 miles away. Should get it very quick. Thanks again!

I didn’t See the post before your purchase, I have the Cold Case and I have a BB, in my Gmc, plus I live in Florida, very pleased with it so far, I’m still running the factory fan shroud as well,

Awesome! Good to know. I was wondering if I should run a shroud or not. My dad daily drove it for 30 years and it never had a shroud. I guess adding one could only help the cooling abilities.

I think you will be very happy with the product. Granted it’s winter here so no chance to drive it in warm weather, but I am trusting it with my new crate engine and the was perfect. You will need the big block mounts though and use the outer holes. I shaved down the rubber isolators a bit. I am running my 3OTT so I just plugged the holes for the auto trans cooler. But fit and finish as well as the packing were excellent.

Another vote for the Champion CC369. It always runs cool. I had to use the heavy duty (wider) rubber mounting pads for the thicker core. I use a standard 4WD shroud since my SBC is in the back (4WD) position. Sounds like the Cold Case is a quality unit too.

For the fan I have a Derale 17118 6-blade 18" rigid fan and a Hayden 2705 thermal fan clutch w/clockwise rotation. This set up works great and fits nicely inside the shroud if you're not going with electric fans.

Yes, absolutely run a shroud. In fact, if you don't have a closed system with a coolant recovery tank, I would add that also.
And as noted above, a 6- or 7-blade fan on a heavy duty thermal clutch. If you think I hate overheating..... you're right!

I have a 6 blade fan with the Hayden 2705 clutch with a shroud , I think I'm going to order the champion CC369-M and see how that set up works .
