Any LS Guys out there

I’m running an LS 1 5.7. I have a noise that is coming from my Intake Manifold that sounds like Something Rattling around in my intake. It’s different than a lifter noise plus it comes and goes. I recently put a set of Trick Flow heads and Cam in. Now I’m hearing the Michigan Motor Sports lifters I bought might be the problem. Anybody know anything about this??? I thought did my research but it turns out I could be wrong. Any input would be appreciated
Thank you

Re: Any LS Guys out there

I would ask the same question over on LS1tech.com.
On my LS swap projects I use the "real" GM LS7 lifters and lifter trays.

Re: Any LS Guys out there

wish I could help, but my LS1 is stock as pulled from a 2002 TransAm.
I did put a set of MM upgraded trunnion rocker arms on it.
Other than the usual cold engine piston slap, it's really quiet on the top end.

Just started this after about 500 miles.

Pull the valve covers and make sure a rock arm isn't acting up or loose.

I’ve looked all the obvious things that it could be, all looks good. Next step is tearing into it.

Re: Any LS Guys out there

I own a 5th gen Camaro SS and Michigan motorsports is widely known in the 5th gen world as a vendor to avoid. Most of us 5th gen performance guys use vendors like TSP, GPI(my personal favorite), and Thompson motorsports, just to name a few. MM is known to sell a good bit of Chineseium crap. I wouldn’t run those lifters unless you can verify they are indeed GM parts. The GM LS7 lifters are a good part but the GM caddy racing lifters are even better for overall durability and performance. GM tested and ran them on the C7R and other platforms to 8500 RPMs without issue. Johnson’s are a slight step up from the caddy racing but are significantly more expensive. For trunnions, smith brothers has a good setup as does CHE. Did you do a trunnion upgrade? If not that could be your issue. The OE needle bearings in the rockers are known to fail with the high lift and spring pressures of bigger cams.

Good info, thank you. The TrickFlow head and can kit came with Harland Sharp roller Rockers and they sound fine. MM made a big deal about having the Gold retainer clip that supposedly meant they’re Not from China. I really thought I had done my research. Don’t know Who to trust anymore. Not too worried about price, just what parts that work. What about Texas Speed, are they any better

Re: Any LS Guys out there

Talk to GPI in Arkansas. All they mess with is LS and LT engines. They now there stuff inside and out. They can help you. Andrew Cammer is a true bad ass at answering questions, and point people in the right direction.
