Got a neat suprise today! A good friend of mine who collects licence plates bought me this for my truck... Sweeeeet. Thanks Deano!
Arizona allows the use of vintage plates as long as the year of the plate and tag match the year of the vehicle. Now I just need to get that dang rear bumber so I can mount this thing... D

Very cool! I bought a set of new, unused 1968 Colorado plates off of eBay a year or so ago. Colorado allows year plates to be used too. Just need to decide if I want to keep the blue collectors vehicle plates, or run the 1968 plates.

I think I fixed the problem with my battery draining quickly...
1. I ran new wires from my single wire altinator straight to my battery and it seems to be charging more efficently. (a full 2 volts more efficent) It doesn't charge through the wiring harness anymore... 2. I found out that my battery had a dead cell. (prob the biggest factor) Got a new battery... 3. I was actually leaving my truck "on" when i turned it off. I got a new switch unit and swapped it out. So far so good... starts right away and holds a charge. So far... Later, D

Got a chance to work on my truck this weekend. I had a leaky left rear brake cylinder and not only was it making a big mess... it was also unsafe.
Got a new cylinder at Checker and I am glad these trucks are as popular as they are. The part I needed was in stock and pretty cheap. I also got some new shoes for the rear. The one photo shows the cleaned bare brake area and the old cylinder with the new one. Last pic is of the inside of my rear tire... yuck! The truck stops more smoothly, now that both rear brakes are grabbing more evenly than before. Now I just need to get my engine redone! D

Just a little update. I got a lead on a well built 350.
My good friend James has a neighbor named George. (exciting story huh?) He had built a strong 350 for his younger brother's '84 Chevy truck. It has Vortec heads, roller rockers, 9 1/2 compression pistons, edlebrock this, edlebrock that... nice! It has been unused for quite some time and sitting in his back yard. My friend James and I went over today and talked to him about it. He was showing us all the receipts and said, "well, I will never get out of it what I put in it..." He told me that for a grand I can have the motor.... I said yes of course. I am waiting to see how much his little brother wants for his '84. I will prolly buy both and then put my leaky 305 in it and use it as a beater. Will be nice to have a second truck I can actually use as a truck!  (I think that is the true def of 'inory')Body is straight tho (would make a great starter project), I'll get pics up as soon as I can of the truck and motor. See ya! D

Got an update on that 350 and '84 Chevy truck today. The guy who owns the truck wants 500 clams, so with the motor it's 1500 total. The '84 is a 3/4 ton long bed. Will make a nice beater truck.
I told him I will take both. I only had my camera phone so forgive the crappy pics! The motor has extremely low miles on it. I would venture to say that prolly less than 100. Still a very fresh rebuild. It has just been sitting for a long time. Oh, the goodies on it are sweeeeet. The electric fans alone are almost worth getting the truck with the motor. I think the transmission is a 3 speed auto... will let you know once I find out. Not sure when I will pick it up, but I will let you know when I get the motor home and into my truck! D

The "Dream" is now officially an Arizona truck! I am not sure how it will be able to deal with the dry heat here
but I am sure it will be ok!Took the truck down to the DMV today to get an inspection. Of course I was waiting for the worst! Older guy came out... checked the VIN to my OR title, looked at it for a couple of seconds and said, "well, it looks like a truck to me...", signed off on the inspection and told me to go inside and get my AZ title! He didn't test or touch anything... so I'm like... ok, cool. He did mention when he first saw my truck, "Now, that's what a vintage vehicle should look like..."! After that, we took it over to the emissions station. (ACK!, Arizona's oldest year for emissions is 1967!!! Go figure!!!) I am assuming that this is an original Oregon truck and therefore has never seen an emissions station in it's entire life! The first time through proved that... FAIL!!! It was just an idle test but failed bad. The max CO's was 5.0 and mine was 9.36... I was assuming it was due to the shock of having to be tested... (you know... unfamiliar probes, new places, that kind of thing) Disgusted, I parked the truck and went to work. After work James adjusted the carb and took it through again... it passed this time, with a little to spare. (and I mean a little...lol) Took the passed certificate back over to the DMV and got my regerstration and tags... I carefully handed the lady behind the counter my vintage Arizona plate and asked reaaaallllyyyy nicely if I could have that as my plate. They approved my request with no issues! Sweet huh??? Looks good on the truck I think, but now I really need to get that dang rear bumber to mount it to!!! See ya! D

I went to a little "meet-and-greet" at the local Safeway tonight and met up with fellow member Matt (caja_larga).
Really nice guy and got to peek at his 70 project. Really straight longbed. Looks like it will be pretty cool when he is finished. Too dark to take pics, but if there are any cool trucks out tomorrow at Little Anthony's I'll snap some. Later guys! D

The guys I'm getting it from said they have gotten excellent quality from the parts they have ordered from them. 169 for the bumper is about 30 cheaper than LMC and I don't have to pay freight! LMC prob gets thier stuff from a similar source. D
