Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

I think I mentioned it before....but I used all my recent paypal balance to buy more parts....

.....now have all my NOS lenses either in house or on the way. And have all the engine pulleys and power steering setup on the way...as well as the correct carb for a 72 402BB truck, and some extra bits and pieces....a mighty expensive order is on its' way

Well, the wheel situation is settled!

My wife likes the rally wheels better. She's got good taste and I like them better too!

I believe, based on your SPID, you should have chrome dog-dish center caps. Those may look very nice. I haven't seen the small caps on a well equipped truck but it may look good.

I've been blessed to meet Jason. He's a top mechanic and an excellent welder, fab guy, and body guy. Pretty much good with anything with his hands since he's also been a carpenter and built a nice deck, pergola, etc in his backyard....
...and he has a friend who's the master tech for aamco's phone line as well as working locally here (tranny guy), a painter with 25yrs experience who's amazing, a body guy friend who helped him become good at it and always is happy to come by and critique/help, and a friend who owns a glass shop for installing windshields cheap....

Those probably would look cool, but I'd want perfect originals or NOS and I'd have close to 1000 in those too....

.....so the rally wheels it is

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

Picked up my truck plates to run on it today. I like that 72 plates in VA are black with white lettering. I'll probably just run the rear plate since this will be a trailer queen anyways

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

Well, truck should go to Jason's tomorrow if the weather holds out. I sold some more parts today and picked up a couple things off ebay so I'm getting down to the final details

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

That's dust in the pics...It's basically like NOS!

Also got an NOS Radiator cap It's an A/C delco and was cheaper on ebay than I could find locally...was advertised as NOS...not sure if the part # is an old one but I didn't care

and got these nice 8 400 emblems from Sharpie...still going to try to find NOS ones at a swap meet but if not these are as nice as I'll ever find for originals. A little black paint and a quick polish and they'll be great!

I'm amazed at the pace you've been able to maintain on this. You have great planning skills to keep the project moving forward while you're still in acquisition mode. It's obvious this aint your first rodeo.

I appreciate that. This will be my second frame off and fourth resto. Been customizing vehicles to some extent for 16 years...started with stereos/wings/tint and graduated to the real stuff

I am actually behind schedule because of Jason's availability and waiting on sandblasters for a bit but ahead of schedule on finding parts....so I am still looking good to finish up sometime in July...hopefully early July.

Truck will be moved to Jason's shop tomorrow because of rain again today.
