Re: Greg65 build thread

Removed broken mirrir bolt. Working door gaps. The door and cab coner wasn't even. Found a big dent I some how over looked. I was able to hammer and dolly it out. I spilt the metal and put it where I wanted it.

Re: Greg65 build thread

The door gapped looked really big. It actually wasn't as big as it appeared, but needed some work to make it look better. It looks much better since I have it all welded and cleaned up (no pics yet). Thanks to Shannon for the sneaky pic.

Very nice truck and color but these two are fawn, the color we are going after. In 1966 GM offered a saddle color which was more gold than tan. Back when I was driving the truck to high school I alway wanted a blue and white but after seeing this color combo I was hooked. Not real flashey but I think it fits.

The one taking the pic?

We were in discussion about replaceing the rockers to get the gap. Then I remebered how I beat on the front of mine to drive it down with a 2x4 and a big hammer. It took a while to get mine where I wanted them. With Greg's we were gonna replace them if all else failed.

I used a 2X4X12" long block of wood and a 4-5 lb hammer and kept working and driving the rocker down. I got the drivers side really nice. The passenger side is real wide in the back so I drove the front down to make it look better. The passenger side looks better, but not perfect. Standing up and looking down it is not noticeable. There is an area about 2-3" back from the front i couldn't beat on with the door installed. Once the door is removed I can finish.

The passenger gap still bugs me, but for a driver it might be acceptable. I even tried to bang up on the rear of the rocker, but it didn't work. Greg, it's your truck, you tell me what you want to do with the passenger side.

Hung the RT fender real quick, and right now it seems like I can line it up with the rocker and top curve of the door. Pic also shows the problem had with repop fenders. The fender flange needs trimmed so the cowl extension can set even.

Thanks neighbor!!

Nothing exciting to post unless you call progress exciting.

Removed the doors after taking a pic showing how much curve there is in the doors and fenders. Also dug out seam sealer, removed from the stand to roll it over to clean the bottom of all the grease.

Also tried to beat a groove in the floor pan where the repop floor didn't come with one. (Hi-lighted in yellow) Then I realized Shannon had a piece of floor that had a groove, so I will use that to put the groove in it. The floor is tin canning now.

Also removed the drip rails on the A post.

Re: Greg65 build thread

While Alan is working on the cab i'm trying tie up some loose ends. I relocated the rear hard brake line to a better area. After making a small bracket, got everything mocked up. The bracket needs a little more tweeking and I need to remake the hard line out of stainless tubing. Also still deciding on getting a shorter flex line or staying mith what I have.

Re: Greg65 build thread

Next was the placement on my electric fuel pump and filter. I made the mounting bracket out og 16 gauge plate. Some of the excess will be trimed and the bottom still needs to be welded on. The rear bumper should hide it pretty well. Still trying to decide if I like this set up or just go with a mechanical pump.

I thought about flaring it myself but I think I will let our local hose and tubing business make it up. I have been watching your build for awhile and awsome work.
