Re: Flatbed owners question.

The PO of my truck did some things right and some things wrong, one thing he got right is the bed cribbing. I'm quite sure he paid someone to fab/lay the cribbing (nice job) because the rest of the bed mounting was a complete disaster.

First pic is the rear of the frame just after the tire.
Blue is 4x1-1/2" rectangular tube, orange is 1-1/2" sq. tube, green is a 1/4x4" flat bar bolted thru the frame and welded to the rectangular tube, this is done 4 times each side. 2 of them each side just before and just after the gooseneck hitch I added later.

Second pic is the front center just before the tire.
Orange is a formed "C" Channel to get the right depth required I've never measured it but it's roughly 4 to 4-1/2" tall and the tapered to the frame.
Blue is again the 1-1/2"x4" rectangular tube that runs the whole length of the bed/cribbing.
Yellow is the aluminum bed foundation which is fabbed from 4" wide x 6" tall x 1/4" wall wide flange or H Beam

My '72 has wood. Large piece in front, small piece in back, with a 3/4 piece on top of them that runs full length of the bed. Mine has stake pockets but no rub rail. I think I will add one, or the "D" rings. I have trouble finding a place to hook straps sometimes
