Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
Nothing new!
C10addict is right. My daughter Hayden was born about 2 months ago and she takes up every free minute I have now, but I'm not complaining! I have the PB inner truss supports to install and I have a few other ideas floating around just need to find the time to get back to it. Don't give up on me yet! I will be sure to post pics when I get rolling again.

I understand where you're coming from Josh... our little boy will be 9 months old on the 26th; can't believe he's already that old. Time flys once kids show up.

The hood hinge install is pretty straight forward in my opinion. As long as you take your time and you can weld and know some one who can. Making sure your hood is properly aligned is probably the biggest thing to concentrate on because if you do it the way I did you have little adjustment and if you weld them on the way they are designed you have no adjustment. I jacked up the front with the wheels off and the inner fenders out and that helps locate everything a lot easier with the hood closed. It might also help to adjust your hood on the stock hinges and leave them attached until you get everything set up on the new hinges. I didn't get to do it this way because I already had cut the hinge mounts off. I would say it took me 5hrs from start to finish. Let me know if you have any more questions I will do my best to help.

Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
Alright it's time to revive this thread from the dead.
The power steering is on and plumbed and I'm extremely happy I switched, the fittings I listed are working leak free. I used the factory big block truck brackets and switched the can on the pump to a big block chevelle can to get the return fitting pointing the right direction (see photo). I got the inner truss supports for the front dropmember in and I highly recommend them if you don't have them especially if you have a big block. I was never happy with the way the truck sat layed out using stock spindles so I swapped them out for some 2 1/2" cpp drop spindles to get the last inch out of it to lay frame. I should've done more research on them because the drop spindles pushed my wheels out and now they rub the fender lip at full turn. Oh well lesson learned I will have to live with it for now. Also I've been thinking of giving the front end a face lift by switching back to the 71-72 grille and getting the shaved front bumper. I was never sold on the grille I made for the truck. What do you guys think? Anyway heres a few updated pics of how it sits now and the power steering lines, I also threw on a picture of my daughters pedal car I'm building... enjoy!

Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
Truck looks great and love the pedal car!
I like your grill for its' originality, but agree with your thinking that a stock 72 grille looks great and fits the current trends better.... On the spindles, you could always sell those and get the CPP modular spindles that bring the wheels back in like stock drum spindles....

Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
CPP has a 2" drop spindle that does not push the wheel out.
Put a shaved front bumper with no parking lights with the current grill. Pedal pedal pedal all the boys will be jealous.

Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
I like the grill you have,... just add the 67-70 bumper.
I'm not really sold on the new "smooth" bumper. I also agree with using the CPP "Modular" spindles. They should pull your wheels back in. You have a beautiful truck!

I thought I chimed in earlier on your build but I guess not. I love the look of the Satin black and gloss blue. And I love the pedal car too.

Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
Thanks guys! I will post more pics of the pedal car when I'm done.
I knew about the modular spindles but for some reason I thought they were for a drum to disc swap.....but I thought wrong. I can live with it the way it is for now and I actually think it looks a little better with the wheels pushed out more. To use these bezels you have to cut out the stock mounting tabs for the marker lights. Its not too big of a deal, I did mine after the truck was painted. They fit in the factory hole. These bezels are made by a board member gregful to use the firebird lights and they fit a lot better, I'm not sure what's involved to use the stock firebird bezels.

Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
Thanks for sharing some update pics. Power steering is always a good thing. I'm kind of a stickler on the grill
and front clip thing. If it's a 71 then sure a 71 would look great in there especially with the bumper. Diggin the pedal car. |

I got them from him almost 2 years ago and dealt with everything here on the forum. I think he owns fuller machine in texas but I'm not sure on the name. It's a shame that he doesn't advertise because they are an awesome product ... very high quality.

Re: 71 c10 Dropmembered Driver
Sorry to leave you hanging! Those are the headers I used and I think they make them in a 2 1/8 primary too, these ones are 1 7/8. They work about perfect, no clearance issues at all.
