I mixed stain to match the color/shade of the wood pattern accents inside the cab, then painted the bed strips body color, just to be different

I would go for the RED, I think it would look great!

68bowtie is that black, painted, stained or dyed?

I looked at doing a black analine dye, where you can still see the wood grain well, but opted for a chocolate brown to match my interior.

Here's the product I wanted to use, since I had used it in the past and it was easy to work with:

But I ended up using:

Still pretty easy to work with but I didn't end up as light as I wanted.

Body color on mine, white epoxy primer, thin coat brushed on and thicker coat sprayed on. Then 2 coats urethane base coat. White pvc bed strips.

I agree that red would really stand out and be unique!

Jason - I read the Mar-K test reports on their website and used 2 coats of POR-15 as a primer and then 2 coats of BEHR exterior latex for topcoat. I brushed everything on.

That is gun stock stain with a satin spar varnish. To get the contrast the wood was hit with a torch first in a sort of limited shou sugi ban style.
