Edelbrock 1406 - 700R4 TV bracket
I thought I would ask you guys this, it seems like its a pretty simple thing but I am having trouble finding a TV cable bracket for my application. It is a Blueprint 355 with a 700r4 transmission.
What I have done is I have removed the Holley that the engine came with and added an Edelbrock 1406. Naturally, the Holley bracketry needs to be replaced, too. I don't want to cobble anything together, I would like the right parts. I have of course bought the wrong parts, a couple times, already. I have reached out to Lokar, who does not sell the bracket on its own, only the entire cable and linkage set. The Edelbrock website is difficult to find anything in. Pictured is one bracket I bought that does not fit, it is a little too narrow for my fat carb.

I used BTO as well. A little expensive, but works well!

I call $260 plus shipping steeply priced.
Give me a distance between studs and it you have a PVC fitting on the rear of the carb. I will look at what I have. |

Thanks! Distance from center to center is five inches, it does have a vacuum hose off the back.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 - 700R4 TV bracket
I have a bunch of these I used to use for conversions.
However, they are reproduced and for $11.00. Difficult to beat the price. They are actually for a THM 350 but also work for the 700R4/4L60's. They bolt to the intake manifold. They typically work fine on stock conversions. But may depend on the rise of the carburetor. The Lokar is $46. https://www.ebay.com/itm/124314609608 Or this one from Jegs with both the throttle and Kick down for $29. EGS Throttle And Kickdown/TV Cable Bracket | Fits Holley 4150/4160 Carburetors | Made In USA | For TH-350, TH-400, TH-700-R4, And TH-200-4R Transmissions | Works With GM-Style Cable. https://www.amazon.com/JEGS-Carburet...000833&sr=8-35 Cheers Last edited by Accelo; 03-05-2023 at 03:24 AM. |

Re: Edelbrock 1406 - 700R4 TV bracket
I used a bracket from TCI with my 1405 carb and 700R4, and it worked great, but it was overpriced. There are similar brackets on Amazon for a much more reasonable price.

Thanks for this info, I actually have that Holley one already, but the other one looks like it will work. That Amazon kit looks useful as well. For the price I might as well get one.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 - 700R4 TV bracket
There are about a dozen different cable lengths that screws up getting the right bracket to work. I have tried just about everyone pictured and went with a BTO on my 69 cringed at the $ but man that thing is sweet and that was 10 yrs. ago I made my own for the 63 and got an adjustable cable been working great for 5 yrs. The differance in cables is from the mounting bracket to the stop on throttle linkage

Re: Edelbrock 1406 - 700R4 TV bracket
If you are running A/C and have to use an idle compensator, there will be no place or a throttle spring in front.
I am using this. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hot-hri-ede-b-gm Looks well made. It comes with GM trans kickdown bracket, but you will have to use a Lokar accelerator cable. More money than I wanted to spend and the idle compensator is overpriced. Lastly, you will need this in either case. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-8026 Last edited by HOGDADDY; 03-09-2023 at 11:45 AM. |

There is more than just the bracket. You have to get the geometry right on the carb where the tv cable hooks up or risk frying the trans.

Re: Edelbrock 1406 - 700R4 TV bracket
This is the unit I have to install on mine, Edelbrock 8030.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-8030, The PO never hooked the kick-down up and installed a knock-off intake manifold that needed shims to work with the heads. I have a 1406 as well and this will bolt right up with the correct Edelbrock manifold. |
