Not much to talk about here. Just been unseasonably warm. So boring . Lloks like we might have some snow to talk about tomorrow. I doubt much, though. Probably rain, then mixed, then 1-2" of snow, maybe. But they sure have been putting that brine down. I had to run through it early yesterday morning, 2 days before and it's going to get diluted by the rain. Taxpayers money hard at work

Been pretty cool here. High of 14 today and sunny. Next Wednesday high of 50 with rain changing to snow over Wed. night. Possibly heavy snow 17th & 18th and windy. That is a long ways away as far as weather goes though....

It's been a winter of bouncing back and forth. That seems to be the norm any more. I bet the average temperatures are unaffected. Our average high about now is 45*. That used to mean it could get up to 50 here and there, usually mid-forties, or be as not get above freezing on the coldest days. Now it means between 65 and 25. Yep, that's 45 in the middle!

Please hang onto that a good while, Paul. I'm glad you like it, but I want to get use out of these clothes I have. I guess my Northern European heritage is coming through in my comfort zone. Even my Welsh and Scottish heritage were a hardy bunch. That's why I like the mountains/higher altitudes, anywhere. Always cooler.

Please hang onto that a good while, Paul. I'm glad you like it, but I want to get use out of these clothes I have. Your heritage sounds almost identical to mine. I still have relatives in Scotland. I must have missed the boat because the cold really gets to me. My wife walks around barefoot and I'm bundled up like I'm going to the North Pole. Cold weather doesn't bother her at all.

The local news said it was going to hit 90 degrees today. Unusually hot they said. So far it's only 72 so I don't know what they're talking about.

I should have been a weatherman. That way I could get paid for being wrong all the time.

It's funny that you say getting it right all your life. My job was based on deadlines and I still have to know the time all the time. I watch the clock and always wear a watch.

Why? I'm retired. I don't have to be anywhere. It's just a habit that I can't shake.

When I first retired I would wake up early and think of the schedule. What do I need to do today? Then it occurred to me that I didn't have to do anything. I didn't work there anymore. Old habits are hard to break.

Do you ever drive past a road or exit you needed to take because you usually drive past that? I worked for a guy years ago, and when he'd make a mistake like that he would say, "Force of habit". Yep, we are creatures of habit. I think he would say that, too. Talk about habits from work. I can't understand when people will say something like, "Sunday is my day to sleep in. Don't come by till 10 or later". My sleep habits don't know what day it is and I suppose once I retire that won't change. I have not set an alarm clock since I don't know when. Certainly not in this century, probably since the '80s.

Looks like Thursday will be 61 and rainy. Today will stay below freezing

Same here. Have not used an alarm clock since school days 35 years ago. It has never mattered if I needed to get up on normal time for work or if I need to getup at 2am to leave early for work or travel. The eyes always pop open on time. I guess it is a good thing too since I can't hear the clock

I never used an alarm clock and I woke up at 4:30 am everyday unless I had a day off. Then I would sleep in until about 8:00 or so. It's weird how my brain knew when it was okay to sleep in.

My son had an alarm clock and it would scream for 20 minutes. I would yell at him to turn the damn thing off. Sometimes I would go upstairs and turn it off myself. He would just sleep right through it.

I noticed something odd. It was windy yesterday and I hang the American flag off my front deck. My neighbor 2 doors down has one flying on a flagpole.

What was strange was that the wind was blowing his one direction and mine was blowing the opposite direction.

Could it be wind currents??? We're only 2 houses apart. Shouldn't they blow the same direction? Maybe because his is higher up on the pole?? My pole is a short one. (Yeah, I know there's a joke there)

Any armchair Meteorologist's want take a stab at this one?

My clock radio was that old, too. It finally stopped working, the clock part. I got a new one and couldn't tell you how to set the alarm. Never looked into it, but I got the simplest one. No bells & whistles needed. Just need the clock.

Your report sounds the same as mine. They said it was a huge strong cold front. The rain came and went in gusts. It's been kicking it up all night. Last night around 11 it was still 61 outside. The high and low are really duking it out! No worry about frost on the windshield this morning, that's for sure. Maybe a twig or two. I'm sure we'll hear of fallen trees with this one.

What time of day was this? You are near a river or lake? Could be you sit where air rises and flows off the water due to air to water differential. And the area's air currents generally pass over your places, without turbulence since you are in a low area, at the height of his longer than your pole

In in a valley or draw. Usually I hear the wind in the woods higher up the rise while my place stays generally calm. The wind either has to be blowing the direction of the draw or just be really turbulent for my place to get stirred up. When it's still, my place gets colder due to cooler air settling down into the lower area. I get heavy dew and frost. I'm hearing that wind kicking it up big time right now. It sounds like a freight train rolling in the not too far distance. every now and then I'll hear it in my monster maple and debris will get kicked up on the roof outside my bedroom window (2nd floor)

Hey Leon! In the meteorology world they are putting a wrap on the winter season here. As explained by the station I watch's chief meteorologist, that's not meaning the astronomical winter, solstice to equinox. It's the three months, December, January, February, of winter weather. The overview of our season averages are full of 2s. 2.8* warmer than normal, 2.5" less snow than normal, and 2.29" less precipitation than normal. The astronomical winter ain't over yet! But this week is another roller coaster. Yesterday started out higher than normal but ended lower (49*) than normal (50*). It was a very pleasant afternoon. Perfect in my eyes (and bones). A dry week, looks dry across most of the nation, except Pacific NW and some lake affect snow in NE. Today 52-57, tomorrow about 60, maybe sprinkles overnight, then upper 40s on Thursday. Friday lower 40s then Saturday, Sunday, and Monday it's low 50s, upper 60s, and mid-70s! I like all those temps except the mid-74s. Just not yet at least. That's a great day once Spring and Summer set in. I really like this time of year. Yesterday at 49 sure felt warm enough to me. No jacket required and no sweat. I ran a jackhammer busting up concrete when I got home and the temperature was just fine for that and all the other "get busy" I was into till the sun went down. It's nice weather when it's cold as long as my fingers don't sting. That's what clothes are for

It was in the afternoon. I live right next to the river. It's maybe a 100 yards away. That could be it. The lake isn't far from me either, and I'm surrounded by mountains which might make for some crazy wind currents.

Yep, really warm here too. 52º here at noon. Should be upper 50's by 3 or 4 this afternoon Even warmer tomorrow, then cool off a little by Thursday, and rain Saturday. This years snow fall is on track for normal, about 25". last year we had just over 53".

I'm liking the weather right now 50's and dry.

72 here today. It was a nice break from the cold. I bought firewood and didn't need it. I'm kind of dreading summer too. After last year when the wildfire almost burned my house down. It can make you a little antsy about heat and wind.

Hey Leon! I never got my warning. The first swap meet of the year was supposed to be yesterday but it snowed all day instead. Got five good inches of powder out of it. Last night it got into the teens. It might get out of the 30s today, breezy. Next week 60s

Sorry about that.... I will send you some rain and warmer weather to make up for it.

We had the cold last week but no snow . 58º here yesterday with sunshine and no wind. Perfect! It is supposed to be 60 - 70º here all week. I guess the farmers would like to see some rain but I would like to see it dry out a little first. I need to put some gravel on the east drive as soon as the frost is out of the ground.

I think we're done with frozen ground. The driveway is out of the spongy stage now. That snow didn't want to stick to the road too much. A little melted Sunday but not a lot. I get down to a job yesterday morning and realized there were no trace of snow anywhere. I got home last evening and same here except where it was plowed, piled, or drifted.

We barely got a dusting out of it this time but the wind and cold made up for that. Plenty of rain as well. I forgot to cover my new Grape vines and they kicked the bucket along with a little blueberry bush that i knew wasn't likely to survive. My Black and rasberry vines seem to have made out ok though. I am ready to get this garden moving.
