Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

man this front end fought me every step of the way...mostly due to my ignorance

had the spindles backwards, fixed that (after messing up some paint banging them back off), had the top arms backwards, bought new lower balljoints just to make sure I had the right ones, and had to get new bearings for one of the rotors. rushed to get my wheels back on that I forgot to put my damn brake calipers on. but anyways, here's where I am so far. going to install my booster and master tomorrow, and start pulling the rest of the brake and fuel lines so I can start running new ones.

it isn't leveled laid out because the rear frame is on jackstands and it's uneven

Glad you are finally getting a handle on it. It's called "on the job training"... j/k..

It's looking good no matter how long it takes you.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

Looking good. When I put mine together I had the uppers on the wrong side and had to swap them. Then after getting it aligned I found out my centerlink was on backwards. Luckily it was all easy fixes that hopefully I’ll never make again until the next time i do

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

Got the booster and master on yesterday and pulled all the old fuel lines and the brake line that goes all the way back to the rubber hose. I think I will leave the axle lines alone. I did them years ago and they look great and even had fresh fluid in them.

Having a little trouble with the front brake hoses. I bought 73 hoses a while back for the length since I have air ride. Which way is best to run them? One set of pictures I have one hose on and the other set is the other hose. They obviously are LH and RH hoses but running across the upper BJ seems odd to me.

Other hose that would cross the upper BJ, but the mounting tab would be facing up like I'm assuming it's supposed to

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

I checked on 73 up trucks on Google and seen some running through the frame instead of that tab on the crossmember. I found an oblong hole that it could fit in.....should this be the best fit? it makes a difference in where I bend the hard lines to. either up to that hole on the frame or up to the tab on the crossmember....

I really don't remember where I ran mine on the '69 Suburban. It's been too long ago. I guess I could look at the Panel Truck tomorrow if it isn't raining.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

if you get a chance that would be nice. I think using these 73 hoses throws a wrench in it but I need the longer hoses for the air ride

I ran them through the frame on the Panel Truck, like your last pictures. It has a '73 front cross member swap The bracket is fastened to the "A" arm.

Yeah, I saw it was pretty warm down there. We are supposed to get a couple more inches of snow again this afternoon

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

went ahead and tightened them through the hole in frame locdoc like yours...should hold fine.

I moved to the rear of the truck. the plan was to replace the bags and freshen everything up back there. well, I removed everything and now I am thinking of redoing my bag over axle setup. let the snowball continue.....

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

starting on the brake lines. I'm so terrible at this lol. plan is to run 3/16" line for the rear drum brakes (including the long line to the back rubber axle line). will use 1/4" for the front disc brakes couldn't find a definite answer to what size line so that'd what I chose. hope it works out ok. figured the front discs would need bigger lines than the drums

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

does this tee location look to be in an ideal location? it's easier to make the lines run to it, but if I have a leak it looks like it will be in a hard to reach spot. yall think its ok?

It might be a little tough if you are going to run a sway bar, otherwise it might not be too bad. I think I would go with it.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

finished up the brake lines think they came out ok. praying they don't leak. with that protective metal wire loom they won't snap back into the factory crossmember clamps. will have to figure out some other mounting clip I guess

You are correct. I thought I was looking at the front of the cross member... Oh well, another day in the barrel...

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

ha! confused the crap out of me, because I do eventually want a sway bar.

I want to try and drop my drivetrain in this weekend so I can get started on redoing my rear air bag setup to set the pinion angles right.

cowboys in the playoffs playing Sunday so we will see!

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

heyo! had to slide my trans crossmember up about an inch or 2 to the next set of holes...but it's bolted in with the dingo sliders all the way back. I don't like how the brake lines are just about touching my headers, will have to address that. everything has plenty of clearance.
