Drill / Tap front engine mount hole
I am needing to drill and tap this hole to add a factory GM serpentine belt system. Block is a 327 from a 65 impala This boss is on the passenger side between the timing cover and fuel pump. The hole needs to be 1/2” to 3/4” deep at the most.
Any tips or advice before I start drilling?

Yes, I have Advice
I would make a drill template plate/ jig. One that you can use the timing cover bolt holes that are beside to Bosses. Then use a Drill stop on the drilling process.

If you are not in a hurry I can make you a jig.

Re: Drill / Tap front engine mount hole
Thanks for everyone’s advice! I got it drilled and tapped successfully. Only went in about 1/2”-5/8”. It never went into the fuel pump pushrod hole.

Re: Drill / Tap front engine mount hole
You bet. I have a bare bow tie block, it was drilled about 1” and still wasn’t into the pushrod hole either. I posted this since the block I had to drill is a different casting and wanted to hear from people who have done it.
