What I thought he or she said?

On the tinnitus thread, reminded me of things my wife said that I heard wrong......she said what a beatiful planting.......I heard what a beautiful Planet......Kind of the same thing but not.....I will add a few as if I remember them.....yes I also have selective hearing which gets me in trouble all the time.

Most women like the strong, silent type… Fortunately for me, my wife prefers the out-of-shape, mouthy type.

Re: What I thought he or she said?

one of my favorites, i will admit to, is talking to my neighbors over the fence, they are super nice people, but i cant hear almost anything they say in conversation..so when they laugh, i just laugh too!..or if they are shaking their head in agreement i know everything is ok!..after 3 years or so they are still smiling, so i guess everything is ok

Re: What I thought he or she said?

I don't have it to that degree. For me it is a constant ring, but I still hear things through it. It is most annoying when there is total silence. Something as simple as a fan or window air-conditioner negate it enough to sleep. I use a simple white-noise generator in the winter.
Mine came as a result of an infection I had as a kid. (Strep) My temperature shot up to over 103 before doing anything about it. As I recovered, I asked the doctor when this would go away. He said, "A week, a month, a year.....never?"
Thanks bud, it's been over 42 years, so I guess the last one was right.

Re: What I thought he or she said?

I can hear most of what is said but usually miss and important leading or ending consonant.

We have a running joke, where my wife will say something about an electric car and I will reply with "What? Volt? Bolt?"

It's to the point now where even if we owned a Volt I would say "What? Volt? Bolt?" just to mess with her.

We use the close captions for this reason. She hears better then I do.

We discovered my son was completely deaf in his left ear when he was 6. Never got an explanation. They have no idea what caused it.

Same. My wife and I are polar opposites in the hearing dept. I could not hear a freight train with horn wide open 50 ft away but she can hear a piss ant fart at 200 yards. Makes for interesting conversations.

Are we brothers from another mother? That sounds way too familiar.
