Newbee Here - 1965 C10 step side long vs short bed question - please help

New to the forum and could you assistance please. My son and I picked up a very nice 1965 C10 fleetside from out West. My son's desire is to convert to a long bed step side. I have been looking for a long bed step side bed for quite some time with no luck.

My question - are the steps on the long and short beds the same size? I see the lmc truck as the steps for the 'short bed' version, but I don't know if they are the same for the long bed version?

If the long bed steps are longer (I suspect they may be), is there a source for original or repo?

Thanks a lot,
Mark

Yup, the long bed steps are longer. 9' if memory serves. As far as I know there are no repops. However you can expand your search as the beds were the same from 57 (or is it 55?) to 66. You may want to upgrade to "supporting membership" (I think it is worth it) and then go to the classified section to look for one. You may even try putting up an ad to trade your long fleet bed for long step. I've seen several people the last few years that would have jumped at that.

Could be 8 or 9 foot. Have seen both variations of the long beds in step sides.

Steps for the longbed stepside (8ft) are not reproduced, they are listed on lmc for being the same 55-66 but the 55-59 long steps are shorter than the 60-66.

I think he meant the steps themselves are 9" longer, not 9'. The only 9' stepside trucks were the 133" WB 30-series
