Cooper Cobra - White letters in or out? (Poll)

I'm getting new tires and I'm torn. What do you think?

Re: Cooper Cobra - White letters in or out? (Poll)

To me, it depends on the "look" of the truck. If it is all stock looking and rather utilitarian, then letters IN and nothing but black walls. If the truck has a little custom or sport to it...then letters out, for sure.

Stock square bodies do wear the letters out better than the older stock Chevys, but the old ones came in so many "farm" styles too...Square bodies...not so much from the factory.

Most plain vehicles have plain black tires. Performance vehicles have white letters

Personal opinion only:
1. blackwall
2. RWL OUT
3. purple tires
4. green tires
5. bald tires
6. flat tires
7.....
.....
.....

999. RWL IN

(i.e. why not just find blackwall tires that you like?)

You’re not worthy of Cooper Cobras if you run the letters in. OUT for me!

I like the old school look of the letters OUT. Even when I use mine to haul 2 large bags of river rock, I still think it looks cool letters OUT.

Gotta agree with the letters out. Especially if you have a sporty looking truck.

Re: Cooper Cobra - White letters in or out? (Poll)

To me Coopers, white letter out would be comparable to having Walmart or Dollar Store on the side of your tire.
I'm old. Tires and wheels make the car or truck. Period.
If you cant afford BFGs, go black.
I have no problem with running Coopers Black.
I'm just used to seeing Goodyears, BFGs, and Uniroyals, Firestones, Generals that came stock.
It just makes my skin crawl to see Coopers white out on C2s and C3s.
Just my opinion.

Problem i read a lot on is BFG has a yellowing problem with there radial t/a tires lately. I also saved over $100.00 on coopers over bfg .

Here is my 6.5" van width fronts and 235 on them . Then 255 on rear 8" wides . I used conversion lugnuts and 88-up caps in black with chrome aftermarket lug caps . I blasted the rims and painted white . Truck still needs 2tone white yet .

Re: Cooper Cobra - White letters in or out? (Poll)

Can we see a picture of your truck? Many squarebodies were ordered for utilitarian purposes. But as time went on, they often evolved toward a sporty or performance look. If I'm not mistaken, it was in the 70s that white lettered tires became available. In general, I remove the tags off of my clothing and such before I wear it. So I certainly understand that perspective. However, many of us leave the badges that say Chevrolet, Odsmobile, what-have-you on our vehicles which at the end of the day is someone else's last name and advertising for the company. For me, when I replace my tires, I will get white letters facing out even though it's a grandpa looking truck, albeit lowered. Once again, can we see a picture? Can we, can we???

I decided to tell them to do white letters out. Partly because I agree what guys are saying about it making sense on sport/modified trucks and I'll be doing a 4/6 drop this winter. Also, I figured it would look good since I'm doing rallies in white like sweetk30 did and I've got white bumpers, mirrors.

Here's the only decent picture I have right now.

Nice! Are those 8" wheels front and back? What size tires are you running? Any rubbing?

Cool truck! That dark secondary color, cool wheels and tire combo, tow mirrors on the shortbox, sport bumpers. Lot's of standout stuff there.
