My house hates me.

I have a weekend place. Every time I go there I get sick. Not like the flu but I'm just weak and sleep all day. I can barely move. When I come back to my house I'm fine. It clears right up. No one else gets sick there. Nobody. Just me. It's just really weird because it keeps happening. It's getting to the point that I'm afraid to go over there. When I'm there I feel like I just ran 10 miles uphill and then got hit by a truck. I really do not understand it.

My wife says it's all in my head because I didn't want the house but that's not the case. I really did want it. I still do. I love that place but it's kicking my butt.

I have no idea what is going on. All I know is that it keeps on happening.

It was just checked when I bought the place 8 months ago. The swamp coolers were serviced last month. Everything should be fine. And it only affects me. My wife, kids, and grandkids are fine. That's the rub. It only happens to me.

My other house is the murder house. Not this one. Although it's liable to be if I keep conking out on my wife.

And I'm serious. The last 3 times I went there I almost immediately started feeling really tired and I mean REALLY tired.

The house is only 4 miles from my house and I'm pretty sure that there isn't a lot of difference between the two.

I have never heard of Radon. Isn't that what the cops use to give you a speeding ticket? Just kidding. I'll look it up.

I did open one beer when I was there last but didn't get half way through it before I had to lay down. What a lightweight.

And feel free to joke Tim. I could use a laugh over this. It sounds like this is going to cost me some money to figure this out.

It may be my allergies. But I mostly have hay fever and food allergies. My nose runs all the time. I don't know where it's going but it's always running.

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about this.

Home sickness? I know you said only 4 miles but only owning 8 months, have you made it your house, have you put your touches on it? Is it on the lake?

Do you fell comfortable there? Have you tried staying there alone?

LockDoc bear me to it. I thought radon once you said it had been tested for mold. Radon is also a carcinogen.

This place is next to the river. Maybe 100 yards away. I doubt I'm homesick. I travel a lot. My bags are usually packed and ready to go. As long as I have a roof I'm good. And we have fixed this place up nice.

I looked up Radon and from what I read in this article it has no symptoms.

There are no immediate symptoms that indicate disease or predict the cumulative effects of exposure. Since lung cancer is monoclonal in nature, meaning that it can originate from damage to just a single cell. The only way to know for sure whether a building is a safe radon environment is to test and monitor the air for contamination.

That doesn't sound like what's going on with me. I have symptoms. And they are temporary. I'm scratching my head on this one.

What is different from this house Vs the other? I was sick as a dog when we bought this house until we had the carpet removed and had hard floors put down. I'm allergic like you wouldn't believe to cat dander. Not saying that that is your issue, because cat dander simply makes it hard for me to breathe, no big deal.

Make a list of every difference between the two houses, (if you can stay awake long enough at the sleepy hollow place). I keed, I keed. This kind of trouble is frustrating, to say the least. I used to have breathing problems when I was in the Navy. Turns out that I am allergic to tobacco smoke, and back in the '70s, EVERYBODY smoked.

Not much difference. Both have hardwood floors. Both in pretty much the same area. We got that place because it's right downtown. Lots of things to do (if you can stay awake). My other place is in the hills and it's somewhat isolated. And my place over in Weldon (the murder house) is out in the boonies. Nothing much around there except ranches A good place to kill someone obviously if the stories I've heard are true and I kind of think they are. But I have no problem there either and it has carpet, No bloodstains included.

I do Indoor Air Quality inspections for a living. There’s multiple issues that could be causing you issues. Just because nobody else gets symptoms doesn’t mean anything. Canary in the coal mine.

If it's an airborne allergen causing this a simple test would be to get yourself an N95 respirator, 3M paint respirator would be great. Put it on before you get out of the car at this house and keep it on for a while. See if you have the same issues. If not, remove mask and see what happens.

Thank you for the offer Jim. The place has a crawlspace, I guess it has good drainage but it has been so dry here that I really don't know. It was supposed to rain today and of course it didn't. It has Aluminum?? siding on it. I would like to think I'm handy but I think I'm the only one that does.

But it did get me to thinking. Our washer flooded the laundry area. I have 2 big trees and the roots clogged the drain. I had to have Roto Rooter drill them out. That was about 6 months ago. But I don't see anything. We just mopped it up and nothing smells bad (except me).

I have a paint respirator. I even have a gas mask. Oh boy what the neighbors are going think.

There are 2 places to get chili dogs close and neither are very good. I like the cheapo Weinerschnitzel chili cheese dog but I have to drive to get them and they always screw up my order. But they're still good even after 3 days in a car. I mean they still taste good they just give you the squirts.

Yeah, they were in hot water a few years ago and I hadn't really heard anything about them since then. But I was surprised a few weeks or so back to see an ad of theirs. Can't recall if it was a TV commercial or a print ad somewhere.
