Shave steering column shifter
Has anyone shaved the steering column shifter nub off when swapping to a floor shifter. What did you use to fill the hole after grinding/cutting it off. Thanks!

I removed the shifter boss and indicator by hacksawing and grinding, cutting a couple of pieces of thin sheetmetal that fit tight in the openings, and JB welding them. Be sure to slip a thin piece of cardboard down inside the collar to keep any JB Weld out of the inside of the housing. LockDoc

Did you fit the sheet metal pieces flush with the column, or were they slightly sunk down to hold some JB Weld in the entire opening? |

They were pretty much flush but the metal was a little thinner than the collar. If I remember right I filed a little angle on the opening so the metal wouldn't fall through. LockDoc
