in marine use yes. Takes some work and time to make it right. Not for the get it done fast crowd.

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

How does it hold up to the sun and rain? I did a 2 part marine varnish from por-15 and it didn’t work vary well at all. I am hesitant about trying it again with another product.

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

So if your hesitant, what would you use?
This is a real marine product, it's what they specialize in. Being in the sun and sea. I'm doubting my weekend at a car show will cause it harm.
Years ago i used varithane or deftane and i cant remember which, was peirside with that truck for a couple years (daily driver) and was stationed in las vegas a couple years. I never saw a wrinkle in that finish. Used white oak then too.

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

I’m sorry. I meant I’m hesitant to use it myself. My truck is always exposed to the elements. It is probably a really good product. I am hesitant to use anything.

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

Got it started today on April fools day.
Forgot to tighten a heater hose clamp on the heater core. Fixed that.
Timed per Blueprint engines to 15 degrees BTDC (they say 12-16 degrees) vacuum plugged.
Topped off trans, power steering and radiator.
Started right back up, good sign.

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

Am I correct in assuming it’s a stepside bumper?

Re: New 64 Stepper Project

Wow- first start up, that’s great! Always an inspiration for continued momentum. Those Blueprint engines tend to be pretty good right outta the box. Congratulations on your milestone! I looked back to the first posting on this thread and it was April 6, 2015. A long road you have wandered since then.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
