GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Im looking for some more information on my latest project. Is there any good sources of information on what the original purpose could be for? Or any production numbers available on how many longhorn stepside’s with a 9’ box were built? Thanks

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Wow, that's an amazing find. It looks to be in pretty good shape! I'd love to see more pictures of it and the interior as well.
I don't have access to production numbers, but I remember reading some story about a fire destroying most of the GMC records. The experts will probably chime in soon. Welcome to the board!

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
The rims are 3 piece split rims, I’m not sure what they came off of. But the hub caps have Chevy emblems

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Welcome to the board! Love 9 foot stepsides!. It's true, you won't get any production numbers, just guess-abouts. Hubcaps look 65-66.
These were the true workhorse no nonsense truck. Probably has 4:56 gears..or worse 5:17's!. I owned a 69 GMC K2500 V6 8' stepside, same interior color as yours too. |

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Nice Truck
And quite rare I believe that is a c30 9’ Stepside Not to be confused with a Longhorn Which would be an 8-1/2’ fleetside bed Nonetheless, it is really cool I don’t think this book has the GMC production #s But you can see very few Chevys in that configuration We’re built I’m sure GMC #s were even fewer In the spid picture, I can’t make out Wheelbase length Are you able to see what it is ? I know Longhorns were 133 And c30 dually trucks were either 133 or 157 Never even thought about what c30 long steps would be I’m sure somebody can chime in on that |

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Wheelbase on the 9' step would be the same as the longhorn at 133"

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Thanks for the information guys! Any idea what rims would have came on the truck originally? Also what kind of bumper it would have had on the rear?

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Very cool truck.
I’ve only seen one c30 stepside with a 9’ bed.

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
And I’m guessing it had split rims on it
But if it had caps I’m thinking they were white Because it was not a high trim truck |

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
I think a 30 would have had 17 three piece rims . My 20 has heavy duty front and rear springs with 17"

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
I currently have 7.50x17 3 piece Chevy rims. 7 of them with 4 Chevy center caps. Does anybody need them? I don’t want to use them if they are for an older model. Plus the tires are pretty expensive

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Rear Bumpers were not required on these trucks so you could have factory ones like my 68 or a plethora of after market ones.

Re: GMC 3500 longhorn stepside
Judging by the hubcaps, the wheels are off a '64-'66 C 20 or C30, however, the 17" 3 piece wheels were used up to '68. '69 and newer 20's or 30's generally came with 16' 2 piece wheels or 16.5" wheels with bumps for hubcap retention. Most run the newer and plentiful 16" 1 piece that came out in the mid 70's and used up to '91. The white 12" GMC hubcaps posted are the correct style for your '70
