What Quadrajet came on your 1968, 327 equipped C30?

I'm curious what is the 7 digit number on the drivers side of your quadrajet carburetor that came on your 1968 327? c10-c30, I'm curious about all of them.

Mine is 7028207 which was what would have come on a 1968 327 equipped corvette. Would this carb have also been attached to some of our trucks too or did someone swap the carb in my trucks past?

According to quadrajetpower dot com the 7028207 would have come with 71 jets and 46b primary rods, when I pulled my 7028207 apart, I found 66 jets with 37b primary rods.

The 1968 corvette with this carb and 327 was a 300hp combination. My 1968 327 was I believe advertised as a 240hp combination.
Could the difference in power be the heads and jetting? I believe my carburetor is original to my truck, what do you think?

Cam, distributor curve/vacuum advance, heads, compression ratio, likely all different. And the carb would be different in calibration, though I couldn't give you specifics.

7028213 for Chevrolet 68, 327/350 full size and truck MT. Same 71 jet and 46 main rod. I can find no other listing for a small block 68 truck with a manual transmission.

Interesting! So it seems someone has done some swapping of carbs and swapping of internal parts on mine. Nice of that person to use the correct year carb and apparently a fairly sought after one by the Corvette crowd.

I'm in the middle of a rebuild of my quadrajet(its taken apart on my work bench and there is a rebuild kit on the mail), which is where these questions are coming from.

My all original '68 C-20 CST had a 327 & TH400. My research indicated that the correct carb would be #7028212. Even numbers were for auto transmission vehicles and the odd numbers were for manual.

I think you carburetor is original to your truck. I have the same carb I bought from a member here from his '68 truck with 327. I bought it because it had the same number as the '68 Vette w/327/300hp

I was wondering where you got your carb kit???

I have knowledge of Quadrajets but, cannot answer your question. I'd say it's unlikely a Corvette carb is exactly the same as on a 1 ton.

I am certain that Cliff Ruggles can answer your question (Cliffshighperformance, com)

You could also call Quarajet Power and ask them....

Interesting! Do you happen to know if the truck it came off of was a 1ton or not?

The Corvette 327 had a different camshaft as well as a higher compression ratio. The jetting of the carburetor was different due to the increased VE of the components used on the Corvette 327. The truck 327 doesn't flow as much air through the carburetor thus the carb has smaller jetting.

The top dog 327 was the L79 365 hp option. Here is some information on what the L79 and L76 engines were delivered with.

Bumping this because I ran across this page that seems to indicate that this carb could have come on a 1968 chevy or gmc truck.

Yes, according to the '68 Chassis Overhaul Manual it is 7028213, for a manual trans. Looking at a rebuilder's site can be misleading.

Thumbs up Re: What Quadrajet came on your 1968, 327 equipped C30?

worked on q-jets and studied them for many years. you can never say never on this stuff. but it looks like 71-46 jets. I would convert your 207 to the 213 specs and run it. BROWN 70

Thanks for the input. What do you think about running it with the 66 jets-37b rods, at least temporarily?
Maybe you can school me on how these work, I'm under the impression that the 66-37 will run more rich? or allow more fuel? than the 71-46 combo.

How would 66-37 be different than 76-47?

Thanks

hi. you are correct. it would work, fuel volume depends on the size of the engine, smog equipment use. taper on the primary rods and power valve spring pressure. and idle tubes with bleeds. and bypass air. so there is a lot to it. cliff ruggles has a great book you may want to buy. good luck, BROWN 70

The odd/even rule of thumb for transmission type isn't always the case. I have the original Q-JET from my grandfather's 1970 K20 350 4 speed, which is 7040208.

Thank you. I may buy that book, I am interested in learning all I can about these carbs. I love how complex and customizable Quadrajets are.
