Thanks, guys! Got him out and ran him down the driveway and down to the next street but the brakes still really need some work. The rear drum is sticking and the pedal is definitely not consistent. I'm hoping to get them all sorted out in the coming weeks and then begin the tear down.

SMI is going to be 6-8 weeks on my carb so I have a bit of time.

Cool build! Any particular reason why you decided against the 60101 cam?

Thanks! After talking with burger and crunching some numbers in a simulator, the 60101 would have me losing too much torque in the low end which I need to get the truck moving. So i decided to step down one profile and retain a good torque to horsepower ratio early in the power band. I'm only sacrificing a few foot lbs higher in the rpm range. I think with the longtubes and cam set-up, it'll make plenty of power out of that little 307 w/o overcamming it.

Hello Robbie,

That's a nice collection of parts you've accumulated. When do you think you'll put it all together?

Thanks, Ed. Hope all is good with you. I'm hoping to begin tear down later this month and have it all up and running by November. My wife is due at the beginning of February so I'm planning to have it done by then. Thankfully my good friend, Number98, will be helping out (probably more than he wants to).

Re: "Oaky" Farm Fresh '73 Short Step

Family first. Life has always been my excuse for not building my truck. So now life has to wait. Lol. Family first and always. You'll be able to do this later on. It'll be a great father and kid project. Congrats by the way.

Still have Oaky and thinking about getting the brakes worked out and doing a few things. Who knows but as of now i still dig the truck and am thinking about making it run and drive better. Should be back with more updates soon.

Glad to hear you're keeping at it! I find the best improvements are those that make the truck reliable and comfortable.

Re: "Oaky" Farm Fresh '73 Short Step

Thanks for checking in. The baby is doing great! She's healthy and growing like a weed. Oaky has moved on to a good home in Northern Alabama. I'm currently truckless but am in the process of bringing another back into the stable. I'll keep you guys posted on that!

thanks for checking in. Means a lot.
