Question 1957 Chevy Door "V" emblem placement

Hey folks!

I just bought a set of 1957 Chevy pickup door "V" emblems for my pickup. These emblems identify the truck as being equipped originally with a V8 engine. I have a 55-59 manual showing badge placement on 56' Chevy pickups, but not 57's. I would like to get exact measurements on someone's door who has these badges. Pictures and dimensioning would be most helpful! Thanks!

I think I found your answer, but you may not like it. Since they did not come on the fender placement is up to you.

Re: 1957 Chevy Door "V" emblem placement

Thanks for all the replies folks! The "V" emblems seem to all be in the same placement area no matter what truck I look at. I guess the best I can do is look at pics and make an educated guess on the placement. Thanks!

Re: 1957 Chevy Door "V" emblem placement

Since I have to figure this kind of problem out all of the time here is mine. It looks like the upper points align with the centerline of the hood emblem. It looks like the distance from the door gap to the fender emblem is the same as the distance to the forward door emblem point. It looks like the fender forward point might line up with the mirror lower center bolt too.

I am actually getting around to installing my "V" emblems now. I am wondering if anyone on the board has a pickup with them from the factory and can take a few measurements to confirm. I believe OrrieG is on to the correct spacing, just want to confirm before I drill holes.

Re: 1957 Chevy Door "V" emblem placement

I have factory emblems. Please stand by...

My LH door is original to the truck, and the truck is an original V8. The LH fender is an original '57 fender. The lower point of the V is approximately 7.5" back from the door edge and approximately 1" above the body line. This orients the top of the V so it is close to aligned with the top of the fender spear. I will not say this is the right way to do it, but it is the way it was done on my truck.

Sorry for the grainy picture.

I know this is really late but do you have a picture of the manual showing the placement of the 56 emblems? I’ve looked everywhere to no avail.

I'd say you have to go off oneprojecttoomany's photo and measurements this time. A search for images show that the ones with the V match his.

I asked this same question a few months ago. Here is the link I used to place my v badges. I have aftermarket doors and fender shoe the measurements are off a little to get it to look right.

I have a couple chevy doors without the badges but they still have the holes. Looks like the holes are 6 1/8” and 9 1/8” from the front of the door back and they are up 1 5/8” from the body line.
