72 LWB Custom 10 Bronze Rust Bucket

Picked up this beauty on Friday. This is going to be the quickest build thread in the history of build threads. I've been working on it all weekend. I've already pressure washed everything, buffed out the entire passenger side paint, switched the bumper out for a chrome one, and I'll be getting my hands on a set of rallies soon. I also cut the front springs and heated the rears to give it some drop. The objective of this build is to create a nice looking driver that someone can enjoy and hopefully make a little money on my end. It has a flat cam in the original 307 so I got a new cam and it's also getting new lifters and a gear drive. I might convert it from 2 barrel to 4 but not sure yet. I got an intake but I need a carb. It's not gonna be a very detailed thread but I thought it would be cool to show what can be done when you invest a little elbow grease and some time into one of these trucks. Let me know what you guys think

Re: 72 LWB Custom 10 Bronze Rust Bucket

Here are a couple of cell phone pics of the progress to date. I'll pull it out of the barn soon and get better pictures. I only did the passenger half of the grill and hood so you can see the difference pretty clearly.

Re: 72 LWB Custom 10 Bronze Rust Bucket

Looks like its cleaning up nicely.
Saw this truck on Craigslist. Looked like a good deal.
Glad its being saved and not parting out and crushed.

Good Luck With It!

Re: 72 LWB Custom 10 Bronze Rust Bucket

Half way there. Next on the list is to get the missing chrome for the bed, put a mexican blanket over the seat, and pull the motor out and paint it. Then she'll be for sale. There might also be a surprise in there but I'm not sure yet. Anyone got a clue what I could ask for this thing? Its super plain, c-10, 307, 2 barrel, bone stock. The rockers, part of the cab floor, and the bottom of the fenders need replacing. Just curious what you guys think

Got the motor pulled and cleaned the other day. The new: 282/292 cam goin in, new valve springs, lifters, gear drive, plugs, fluids, headers, dual flowmaster 40's, valve covers, and all new gaskets. Also got a 4 barrel intake and a carb. Should sound pretty good. Stay tuned for pictures

Yea I was definitely surprised. I basically wet sanded the entire truck and then went over it with turtle wax polishing compound and an electric buffer.

Re: 72 LWB Custom 10 Bronze Rust Bucket

Well I feel pretty bad at keeping up with this thing but here are a few sneak peak pictures. I've been up at school for the semester so I can't really work on either of my trucks. I got the motor pulled, painted, new cam, liters, gear drive, headers, 4 barrel intake, gaskets all around, valve covers, and a new edelbrock carb. Also an old friend of my dad's did the door logos, they look great. I'll have to get some full truck pictures next time I'm home but this should do for now. Let me know what you guys think and also if anyone could help me out with a ballpark as to what I should ask for this thing when it comes time to sell, I'd appreciate it

Dang, Andrew - that was quick. Way to go!

I love the second, third, etc chances at life these trucks get.
