1972 Ambulance
So I ran across this suburban ambulance that needs all the normal sheet metal plus a little but still has the big block and the majority of the original lights. Any idea if it is worth anything in this shape and would it be worth restoring if purchase price is right?

It has been stretched between the doors so it needs some abnormal sheet metal too, neat truck. From the pictures it looks too rusty to save but maybe it isn't as bad as it appears.

i bet there isnt many of these out there .... it may take a bit to save but it would well worth it in the long run IMO ( i have seen ALOT worse )
and it looks pretty much complete too ( which is a plus )

I think its a cool burbulance, but its probably only worth restoring if its something special to you.
Around here big blocks have taken a BIG nose dive in value, I'll bet that the 4 spot lights and 4 revolving beacons are worth more than the entire rig. |

It'd be pretty neat, id try my best to save it, always wanted one to paint patina black and make it a parts hauler/support vehicle for power tour or the like. Still lookin...

The stretch would have been done at the... ambulance factory? So its almost factory or at least it is how this one was done. There are definitely worse out there and it is far from impossible that this could be restored it would just take the right person, I have more projects than time or money allows as it is so that is not me.
The steering wheel is on with the wrong side up lol, putting it on this way helps with speed shifting for picking up patients quicker. Well if anyone is interested they guy says he is motivated to sell it for whatever that is worth. I would love to restore it but wouldn't want to keep it after all the work and money were poured into it and I have plenty of other things to work on 67-72 related, like a SWB sitting in the snow right now lol. |

Once again I must repeat rare does not equal valuable. Spend the $$$$$$ to restore it. Then find someone interested in a restored Suburban ambulance. Hey spend your money how you want, just don't think you'll get it back....... Just saying.......

The Tucson one would be a much better bet as you are talking far less rust and honestly a better looking conversion.
Not sure about the $6k price, I would try for less but all these stupid TV shows have made folks think there is gold under the rust on these old rigs. |

$1000 is too much for me, LockDoc you should at least have a look. The add says "motivated seller" for what that is worth, maybe end up with it for less?
