Project "Identity Crisis" Chopped, shaved, slammed 72 Jimmy

OK, I need to start a post on my project that has been going on for a couple years now. Here's when I first got the Jimmy, basically rust free beautiful 4x4 CST for $2500.

Right off the bat I decided to build a 383 striker, did that and that lasted about 3 years... then I threw a rod out the side of the block. Then I built a 454, that lasted a few days... then I spun a main bearing.

After all this I decided to go 2x4, slammed to the ground on bags. 22" rims, 18" wide rear tires and 7" up front. I then built the ultimate motor for this project of mine, a 572, dual turbocharged... 1200+ HP.

Re: Project "Identity Crisis" Chopped, shaved, slammed 72 Jimmy

So I went to the junk yard and picked up a 1972 2x4 longbed chassis for $350. I chopped 27" out of the chassis and also C-nocthed the frame over the rear axle, boxed the rear frame in and built new crossmembers. Then I got the underside of the Jimmy taken care of and put the body back on the chassis.

As I said this was rust free when I bought it, but as some of you know i live near the dunes... dunes = salt water = rust. Very minor rust was found behind the rockers in the cab and a little bit in the rockers. So I replaced the metal behind the rockers and replaced the rockers. Then I decided to go with a chopped top, so i chopped it six inches... then I didn't like how the doors lined up with the bed section, so I fixed that, then I didn't like the GMC front end so I replaced it with a 67 Chevy front end. Then everything just had to be shaved, so on, and so on...

Yeah, if you look in the 57 board on this page I have another build going on there, 1957 GMC 1.5 ton, dually, deisel, 4x4, quad cab. That's what that hood is for. As for the pics of the 572.... sorry, I thought I had some on my computer. I sold that motor a while back (along with other stuff )to come up with some money to buy our house. I have since been rethinking the situation.... 572 supercharged instead... that's why in the drawing I have the shotgun barrels sticking out of the hood.

You need to subscribe and post a For Sale ad on the parts board. If you bring up selling it again the thread gets locked. BTW you need to be a subscriber to post a link of your ebay sale if it comes to that.
