Recent car shipper info please

Looks like I’m about to be a Camaro Daddy. Wifey wants one and I think I’ve found a nice low mileage one in Iowa. I am in south Arkansas. I inquired online and no less that 10 offers to ship the car came via email. I googled each offer and every company, every last one of them, had bad reviews!

I searched this site for previous posts, but found no very recent ones. Anyone have a vehicle shipped recently and have good results? Any info of a good quality shipper would help me a great deal. Thanks. GTT

Re: Recent car shipper info please

I used Easy Auto Ship on my Corvette. The price was reasonable and they didn't pull any last minute shenanigans on me like the last shipper did. They are a bit slow though. But I think that has to do with where I live. They contract out the work and no truckers wanted to drive up the canyon. I really can't blame them. I hate that road myself. But as far as the shippers were concerned, they were great. They would actually answer the phone.

Re: Recent car shipper info please

I will try to find my paperwork and let you know. Top of my head don't remember the name of the outfit. Went through a trucking dispatch that hooked up an empty backhaul and Denver to eastern Iowa was $600, insured and all. Guy had covered the truck to boot...I could not have flown out to Stapleton and drove it back for less.

A number of years ago I had a classic car shipped. I called a some what local classic car dealer ship and asked them who they would recommend? They gave me a couple of contacts. It went well.

Thanks. Man, this car that I want is in Cedar Falls, Iowa, up in your neck of the woods. If I was just a couple hundred miles closer, I would probably just go get the thing and bring it home, but with COVID and it being so far that I would need to stay in a hotel room....I’m just gonna try to get it shipped.

I agree, I don't trust hotel/motel to be clean and safe.

Re: Recent car shipper info please

This is just outside of my circle, but I do have 3 friends that will go anywhere.

I will say this, good shippers are not cheap, and cheap shippers are not good.

All these guys deal via Facebook, so if you're on there I can message names.

I tried to pm you, but it wouldn’t go through. If one of your friends that you trust to do a good fair job can do it and save me some dough, I would be interested. Estimates so far are $847 open trailer & $1100 enclosed. Cedar Falls, Iowa to Camden, Arkansas is the trip. I don’t do Facebook and I don’t own a cell phone. Just don’t want either in my life......just things to tie me down. PM me if your friends are interested and can do it cheaper.

WOW, cheap rate for 775M, better take it. (Probably using
brokered load through a dispatch service.) Hopefully you
get good service. I wouldn't even touch it for that and all
them are big dogs compared to me. Make sure the seller
does video walk around before they load it. (Saves time
and headaches "if" it arrives with any damages) I hope
it works out for you, best of luck, sounds like a nice car.

Thanks for your help. If you see this, please give me some real advice on open or enclosed transport. Looking at Montway as they were rated highly on several google searches. If I go with open, is my car in any serious danger of being damaged by debris or the car above it dribbling fluids on it during the ride or is that info just a myth. I know enclosed means I’ll get the car just like it’s loaded at the dealership.....all detailed and slicked up with armor all and clean as a cat’s a$$.

Just wondering if the enclosed price really is worth it. Thanks, Man.

I don't know that company, but will tell you this for what it's
worth. If an open multi car hauler pick's up your car it could
be on top or bottom, on top of that most of those (cheaper
rates) are constantly doing musical chairs with your ride if
they have multiple stops before you get it. In other words
they will keep driving your car on/off to organize their load
based on stops/destinations. Recently, past 6 months, I've
heard of classics getting damaged, Top of a Blazer scraped
underside of a bridge. (Shipper ate it, but who wants to go
through that headache?) Another was a guy that his vehicle
was backed off to unload another, and guy hit a pole! (Now
I'm talking worst case scenarios I know.) So "most" drivers
in multi car setups making very little money. Some do not
care about your ride, just a job to them. Enclosed can be
worth extra money, again pending how many rides they're
carrying and the amount of shuffling they are doing. I only
haul 1 at a time. (Open) My $ can be little higher, but not
always. However I do white glove treatment & treat all of
my customers like I would want to be treated. If you have
any other questions I will do my best to answer them. JC

*Disclaimer ~ I am not an expert by any means, I have
both paid for transport, and hauled them for money. The
whole reason I started doing this was to help others, on
some loads I make very little money, but earn respect.
As I said in the beginning, that's out side my circle or i
would have been bidding for your business as well.

I've always shipped open carrier with no real problems. No damage. But it does make you worry a little.

The biggest problem I had was that some oil dripped on my Corvette because they parked my Mustang over it and it had a very minor oil leak. But it was no big deal. Just a couple of drops on the windshield. I just wished that they had parked my newer cars on top. All 4 cars on the truck were mine so they all got loaded at the same time.
